Not sure if I wrote this elsewhere or just thought it but I wonder if Julian can be converted to a LWB if we truly play a full attacking wingback system under Pascal. He's got the size and speed for it and he seems most comfortable playing along the sideline. If they bubblewrap McFarlane again as Revfugee so aptly put it we are going to need coverage on that side for OToole.
Hmmm. That's a really interesting idea ...

57 minutes in to sour on the new coach! Dutch coaches are accustomed to both winning and selling players. Jansen made the semis of the Conference League then sold 4 players for €100mm. Both can happen at the same time. Cushing didn’t do either.
I would take it a step further and say that it is absolutely integral to do both. Every teams gets u22 slots, and you are at a competitive disadvantage if you are unable to leverage them.

But isn’t Mac already gone? I assumed that was a foregone conclusion and that was why they were protecting him.

Is there any timeline as to when we there will be an interview with Jansen where fans can submit questions, I would really want to know his initial.thoights on he team, where he sees room for new acquisitions (and possible if there is anything close to fruition)

No sign of him in the training photos. I don't think he even has a visa yet.

He was supposed to do a meet and greet with the Third Rail on 1/29 but had to cancel because of a personal/family issue back in Europe.

Welp, that may have been the shortest coaching hire in NYCFC history. He's already onto his next club.

It looks like Jansen is here, but my laptop went tits up and I'm having trouble posting the link with my phone. I'm old.

I know this isnt much to go off of. But the last coach in this league that really promoted a high work rate was Hernan Losada. And Lozada’s time in the league was marred by injured rosters and teams that were burnt out by August. His teams never qualified for the playoffs.

Not saying this is what will happen. Just a bad premonition based on the preseason injuries. Hopefully Jansen is more Dome and Ronny than Losada.

Losada came with a reputation for working the players into the ground. Pascal doesn't seem to have that, does he? I agree though. We want intensity and want the players to have the physical conditioning to play that way, but we don't want our best players dropping like flies.

I agree that differentiating between varying degrees of intensity is crucial. Based on how often the team looked flat-footed under Cushing—and the limited glimpses we got from training videos—I always suspected he didn’t push the squad particularly hard in practice. Comparing his behind-the-scenes training footage to the sessions under Vieira, there’s a noticeable drop in intensity. Cushing seemed like the type of coach who focused on drills and running through plays at three-quarter speed, likely to manage player workload. In contrast, Vieira frequently emphasized practicing at game speed to help players adjust to real-match timing.

Then you have coaches like Bielsa and Losada, who are known for pushing players to their limits with grueling, high-intensity training regimens.

Coaches have found success with all three approaches, but I think Cushing’s method is better suited for experienced teams. It likely worked well with Man City Women because they were already world-class players. My hope is that Pascal adopts a style more in line with Vieira’s, as that approach is far better for developing young players and acclimating them to the pace of the game.

Losada was a nut job and it wasnt just limited to the training regimens. He reportedly would go days without speaking to some of his players (during the season), would enforce strict eating regiments and mandatory weigh-ins, etc.
