The only thing I'd like to see almost immediately is a return to fun-to-watch soccer. It was missing under Cushing for large parts, I felt like I was sitting at games half the time wondering when it'll end because it's been nothing happening. With Dome/Vieira and some parts of Ronny era, we had this super fun passing / crossing system that was engaging to watch, I felt it was gone during Cushing-era.

Based on the articles above, I think we get that. Regardless of results at the start, if we have that I'll be happy.
Fully agree with this. Especially on the road, we played such boring soccer sometimes, which was a huge reversal from our previous three coaches. Love what you said here -- if he brings back exciting, free-flowing soccer, I think he gets a lot more leeway than Nick did.

I think it’s that plus the what we see in terms of growth of the young players. He must have been on the coaching list because of his work with the developmental leagues.

I really do believe that Bakrar has it in him. And I just don’t think Jovan does

Completely agree, I think either Bakrar or Wolf are the most likely candidates for a breakout 2025. Bakrar works too hard not to figure it out at some point. Wolf played well at the start of the season before fading down the stretch as he didn't really get an offseason. Given a full off-season and hopefully a coach that rotates players a bit better I think there is a chance Wolf plays well this season.

The guys I'm looking for are Ojeda and Fernandez. If Pascal can unlock those two guys, plus Alonso/Bakrar, Jovan, Maxi, Santi, and Malachi, we would have one of the best attacks in the league.

I really think this roster has the potential to contend for MLS Cup if players play to their potential. Hopefully Pascal can unlock a few things and allow us to reach our full potential.

If our attacking talent starts to blossom this year, we need to get some improvement in both fullback positions and we'll be right near the top of the league.

This quote from David Lee is not in the press release by accident.

“Pascal brings fantastic experience and a style of play that aligns with our philosophy, wants to play an entertaining and attacking style that will create chances and score goals, which I’m sure our fans will enjoy watching and will help us compete for trophies across all competitions in 2025 and beyond. Throughout his career Pascal has vast experience and a great track record of developing young players that have gone on to have success at the highest levels in Europe and knows how to maximize their potential to develop them both on-and-off the field.

Seems very easy to surmise now that Cushing was fired because of the lack of development from Jovan, Julian, and Agustin.

The attitude Cushing had towards the end, in general, was clear he was on the ropes and on the way out. Whether it's from the young player development or not, it's clear that the back office wasn't happy with him continuing.

------

I'm really darn pleased with this, I'm not gonna lie. Bullish on the new season. We got our man very early compared to the others. Deila came way too late, for example. Jansen looks like he's ready to coach and has bought into the plan (until he moves to europe inevitably).

If this is Lee's hire, then credit to him for getting it done so quick. Do we think they already had him lined up as an option months ago and then just pulled the trigger after playoffs? I have to assume so.

I'm not going to forget when (was it lee? or deila?) said "I prefer winning 4-3 than 0-1" and then went on to have dreary 1-0 games.... So I really hope Jansen's attack-first, pressure possession stuff translates well from Hungary and Netherlands to MLS.

That was Deila.

Fully agree with you on Cushing. With hindsight, it's clear he knew he was on the hot seat and he coached like it.

Yeah, Cushing put the best team to win.

Pascal is asked to put the best team to improve youngers players to sell them...
