Patricof Forgoing Renewing Club President Position for 2019, Will Become NYCFC Board Member

I am trying to remember the exact specifications of his job as president. I think I recall that he was purely in a non-sporting role. Whether it was all non-sporting activities or a subset, I can't recall.

I think we all know he was brought in primarily to help build relationships in the city with a view to securing a stadium site. I think he has done well with that (although it is hard to know for sure). Problem is that we don't seem particularly close to a stadium deal. Maybe that's wrong, but it is also hard to know for sure.

It could be that he is simply interested in doing something else. It could also be that the Club believes that while he has built good relationships within city government, it needs a different skill set to get the stadium project over the finish line.

I don't think it is because anyone views him as a failure.

My experience with things like this leads me to think the board seat is a place to put him until he finds something else. I read this negatively for his long-term connection to the club.

His background does not suggest to me that he would be the guy to specifically lead a stadium project.
