Preseason - All Matches

Solid performance from the young guys against a mostly first team opposition but no major standout for me. Murry was strong in the air and put in some good tackles but also was involved with both goals. Baiera looks like a capable backup, so that should ease the loss of Illenic.

I can't be too hard on Carrizo and Reid, SKC identified them as our primary threats and boxed them in with double teams most of the game. It left the wings open but none of our wide players had the skills to punish them for it.

Farnos and Flax looks smooth on ball and had some nice passes but neither of them could win the ball in the midfield. I think there was a solid 30 min near the start of the game where the only time we got the ball back was off a stop by the GK or our CBs or that ball going out of bounds. Tana got so frustrated with it he started charging into the midfield to win the ball for them.

Musu was unmatchably selfish all game, took some bad shots when he had an easy pass to a wide open teammate in front of goal. I'm sure he is pressing the make the team but man it was like watching those McDonalds high school all American basketball games where whomever has the ball is going to shoot no matter how bad the shot is.

I don't think so, only on offense, Raul is pinching in so Trewin can go forward. Trewin and Martins are the CBs. Kevin is a CM
For today yes. Think it’s just a temp solution to figure out the midfield. Think the real battle is Trewin vs Gustavo over the course of the season. If there no Keaton and before Perea comes back this is an ok setup. I don’t like KoT in the midfield much at all generally.

I agree KOT is just a stop gap in the middle right now but I think Pascal like's this CB hybrid at LB set up. Plus Kevin is the ultimate super sub as he can fill in at LB, LW and CM. I'm sure it will be situational depending on match ups. Raul is on almost $1M in wages and it was reported that Trewin is here to try to win a spot at the WC, I think they both expect to be starters.

My bet is once Parks is ready to go he will displace KOT from the midfield for a stretch of games with Raul at LB. Raul will do his inconsistent thing of being great some games and horrendous others and KOT will win back the spot with his consistency.

Definitely think our Back 6 is going to be:

Parks-O'Neill
Gray-Thiago-Trewin-Gustavo

When Perea comes back, I have no idea what happens or what should happen. Maybe Pascal rotates based on matchups.

Seems like all three of those guys are all versatile enough to fill in each other. Just that Keaton is so good and doing this triangle cycle thing is trying to replace something we can’t really do.
