Preseason - All Matches

bit concerning that we don't have a clear cut starting XI. still a mishmash of players. I know it's preseason, but there's gotta be some benefit to playing your starting XI together for at least a half, right?

Prince was not good at soccer
He got beat over the top twice, and easily. A couple other times he was out of position. He looked somewhat ready to contribute to the attack, although he's a bit raw there, too.

Definitely he's going to have to get his head on a swivel, though. Gotta look around, man.

Interesting to see Julian take all the corners. And from either side.

Max Murray impressed that half. Those were a couple great interventions, and he was a rock in the middle of the park.

I'd like to see more ambition from Trapito, more willingness to take defenders on and try and beat them, or at least move them around.

I will say I am being a bit harsh on him, but I had hoped for a little better from an academy kid. BUT I will say there was a ton of ball movement in and around STL low block that I was very impressed by. I’m going to butcher his last name but all of the youngins did well especially Beiara. There was a lot of solid movement and more chances. Better than many low block break throughs than our first team last year. Max Murray was very good in the back as well.

I like Baiera. He was really good with the Deuce.

Prince was likely trying a little too hard, getting a little too far forward and not checking his six. But I liked his movement. It's his positioning which needs work.

i know preseason means absolutely nothing. but we have yet to see an actual starting XI play together... have we?

Our first game being against messi & co could potentially be extremely embarrassing.

Great aggressive yet clean turnover by young Jonny Shore, would have led to a goal had Alonso not been a hair offside

The academy does a great job developing players who all play the same style. They all do that fast passing triangle thing with ease and comfort. It starts happening and they all know what to do.

Unfortunately it's very clear Fernandez is used to playing very differently and his movements off ball are just out of sync with the other guys. Hopefully Pascal can help get everyone on the same page with time.

I think we (mostly) saw it the first Coachella game. My guess is that you'll see a full dress rehearsal-like game on Saturday. I would think they'll put those players on schedule by playing 7 days before the opener.

If Santi is gone, it will be interesting to see if Ojeda takes that LW spot or if Martinez plays there and Bakrar starts.

yea, this will be interesting. i'm thinking he prefers martinez on the wing with bakrar as the 9. things will get further interesting when malachi is ready to play again. bakrar will need to produce or he'll see the bench again, i think. ojeda will need to show he can make a difference or he'll also get his spot taken by jones.
