It's not impossible that he simply chose TFC over us.
maybe he wanted to learn italian?

Except for DPs and limited voluntary TAM, it's a hard capped league, albeit with complications.
Every extra dollar spent on Sean takes away from elsewhere on the roster.
Dollars not spent do not save the club money, so any time a club chooses not to spend on Player A it is an indication they plan to spend on Player B.
The club intends to take the money it's not spending on Sean and spend it on other parts of the roster.
I keep seeing fans demand that the club tell us it has a plan.
This is the club telling you it has a plan.
Paying Johnson for sentimental reasons is the opposite of a plan.
It's definitely a matter of business realities. We're not an association football club with the flexibility to spend as we please. The extra parameters drive a lot of the decision making.I agree. It sucks to lose Sean, but like Callens we got him for his peak years. He's 33 now. Freeze has a lot of potential and I really think he'll end up being the starter this year. So you're going from a 33 year old to a 24 year old making like $500k less. That's a lot in this league.
I understand what you're saying, but in a way this was the best way it could happen. Can't root for him when the season starts but at least for this match he's still on our side, still "our" keeper.Watching the USMNT game and seeing SJ feature is painful.
No Bieber or The Weeknd helping out Toronto? I'm surprised SJ stood for this partial Canadian invasion. We couldn’t get Jay Z or Nas for a dinner with Sean Johnson to keep him here?
At least we know the Drake curse will be in full effect for Toronto. We couldn’t get Jay Z or Nas for a dinner with Sean Johnson to keep him here?
Let’s put him back in the Survivor pool so we can vote him out again. This quote from Sean really makes me mad

We've been talking about this for years... It's clearly a huge reason a lot of people wouldn't come here yet - that new stadium will be HUGE
Sure, but you have to imagine that a player in general given the chance of playing at a half-full yankee stadium vs a packed and loud sss would prefer the sss. Maybe i'm wrong though, but it would definitely seem that way...i mean he still came here. and was successful here. i always felt this idea what players wont come maybe is applied to domestic players and possibly big names in terms of DP. The rest of the international players seemed to not care. i mean santi claimed in his recent interview that he loved playing at Yankee Stadium.
Thank goodness he didn't end up signing with Montreal. No Bieber or The Weeknd helping out Toronto? I'm surprised SJ stood for this partial Canadian invasion.

That or NYCFC paid him to look distraught as he let them in lol
