So are these not moving forward now? I'd be way more into a stadium here than up in the bronx coming from LI lol
I dont know. I have no information whatsoever on the Hudson Yards site and planned development.

I haven't seen anything that suggests these planned developments are not happening and I'm not certain it's a simple change to make to scrap those plans for a completely different type of development.

I also don't mean to shut down what K Kjbert is mentioning here considering what he heard and who he heard it from.

My sense though would be that Hudson Yards is an Adams pipe dream and then the telephone game ensued. I just can't see how this happens here but it definitely would be fucking awesome.

I’ve said it before - it’s going to be the GAL site. Announcement coming first half of the year and shovels will be in the ground by fall.

I think if any of the 3 talked about sites happens we will all be happy as a pig in shit. Here's hoping we are all celebrating in the not too distant future, it's been an interesting ride thus far for sure.

I wonder what the results would be if you polled strictly on those 3 locations: GAL/Parking Lots, WP, and HY. As someone who drives to matches, driving into Manhattan would be a nightmare.

I love the Bronx for the ease of driving in, but I really enjoyed the tailgating for matches at Citi Field.

But if it was in a much more public transportation-friendly location, would you not just want to take that instead? Or you have a clear preference for driving no matter what?

I think that you and K Kjbert need to join forces and coordinate your intel and due diligence. Maybe also include Seth Seth as well for his superimposing skills, and even The Toe The Toe for his stadium intel OG status. Feel free to come up with a cool name for your enterprise and, most importantly, keep us posted on a real-time basis. We are all counting on you.

Speaking for me personally, as someone who has to drive either way, I prefer a direct and convenient driving and parking access. I wouldn't mind parking somewhere else and hopping on a train, but it would be far less ideal.
That being said, a stadium in Manhattan would be something special and would really raise our profile!

Great question. I'm up in Rockland, so at the moment, transportation to the west side of Manhattan basically sucks. If I took the train from Pearl River or Nanuet I'd have to transfer at Secaucus. Eventually when the Gateway Tunnel is built and the Bergen Loop is added my answer might be different.

I’m a BIG fan of the citi tailgates. One of the reasons I’m so excited to play there next season. Buddies bring the grill, coolers, etc

From the wikipedia page linked above:
The western portion of the yard is bordered by 30th Street and 33rd Street in the north and south, and Eleventh and Twelfth avenues in the east and west. The western phase of the project is to contain up to seven residential towers, an office building at 33rd Street and Eleventh Avenue tentatively known as "West Tower", and a school serving Pre-K to eighth grade students.[4] The third phase of the High Line will traverse Phase 2 of the project.[12]

Work on the platform to cover the second half of the tracks was originally scheduled to begin in 2018,[173] and Phase 2 was to have been completed by 2024.[174] However, construction was later rescheduled to begin in 2019.[28] Around $500 million of financing for Phase 2 was approved in mid-2018.[175] As of February 2021, there is no set completion date for Phase 2 because of the COVID-19 pandemic.[5][162]

I'm not sure how or where we'd be able to shoehorn a stadium into that project at this point, unless we built an island next to Hudson River Park Pier 40. Which we probably could do if CFG was willing to write a very, very large check. I don't know why they'd want to with other sites available.

My guess is it's going to be Willets Point. It could still be the South Bronx, but I think the green light would have to come in Q1 2022, shortly after Adams is sworn in. If it's dragging on into the spring with more tail-chasing from a new city administration the team's patience is going to run out.

My patience, obviously, has already run out. LOL

Send me in coach, I'm ready. Woooooo!

Regarding western Hudson Yards site, the lengthy and multi-tiered approvals process for the Related commercial/residential development is very far along now. As recently as last month, the Final Environmental Impact Statement for the structural platform to be built over the open rail yard, plus a tunnel encasement, was published, following the much more detailed Draft EIS, also accessible at that hyperlink. Note that a federal, rather than state or City, agency is the lead agency (because of the interstate nature of this rail-related project which also feeds into the rebuilding of Penn Station and the surrounding area, a NY State-led effort). While the platform construction and tunnel encasement represents the first phase of many, the documents refer to the final Related project throughout. As I mentioned in an earlier post, it would be a staggering reversal of plans at this point.

Meanwhile, Phase 2 the Willets Point Redevelopment Plan actually included a soccer stadium at one point...

If Adams disrupts that project now I’m not sure if I would consider him a friend of the real estate industry or pro development.

I think that's just their latest proposal. They've run into a few problems along the way, to put it mildly. I think Sterling Equities getting caught up in the Madoff thing was a problem too.

I don't think there's a complete plan fully approved for the entire Iron Triangle yet. There was one, sort of, but after all the chaos it appears Related just have approval for 1,100 housing units now, which they seem reluctant to build if they don't get their mall. The last I heard they had just started cleaning the site up.

This is from a couple years ago, but there's some good info:

How A Mythical Soccer Stadium Became Queens' Biggest Political Futbol - Gothamist

In any event, the club is certainly hinting it's back on for NYCFC. Which wouldn't be surprising. I live in Southern Saratoga County and I've seen what can happen, and how fast, when Abu Dhabi comes with their wheelbarrows. If they really want it chances are they'll get it.

Where that fits in with what Related has been doing, or whether it means transposing the South Bronx plan to Queens and replacing this one, or whether something else is in the works, I have no idea.
