Y’all going to hate this. But if it’s WP, it makes most sense to be a shared stadium with the Jets.

1. They just announced they are the UK ambassadors for the NFL already sharing a stadium with my beloved Spurs.

2. They can get out of their MetLife deal in 2025. So the timing is kind of perfect. https://medium.com/@Ihernowitz/there-is-no-franchise-in-sports-like-the-new-york-jets-6bbf999529c0

3. They used to play at Shea, so it would be a return to their original fanbase.

I know you lose some atmosphere with a large NFL stadium, but it would play for large events like the WC. And if you can get that rolling pitch like at TH stadium, it would allow matches Sat/sun no problem.

the only issue is that the stadium wont be anywhere near atlanta / seattle. it will be more like chicago/ NE in terms of atmosphere. also its got to be grass but then it brings the issue of overuse etc. of course if they do it like spurs stadium with one level of field for football and other for soccer its fine.

Interesting idea, though I'm not sure how many people are interested in building another large stadium. It feels like we already have a glut of stadiums and arenas in the NY metro area.

I'm pretty opposed to sharing a stadium. We already share a stadium that seats 48k and the place is way too cavernous. I'd also be concerned that NFL would have priority over an MLS club in terms of: scheduling, turf over grass, and no safe-standing.

That’d be such a gut punch. I’d rather play in Yankee Stadium and at least take advantage of the home field quirks.

Why would CFG sign up for that?

Not quite sure that’s a good move for the Jets either. The giants fanbase helps to subsidize their losses on MetLife.

Personally, I could live with a shared stadium as long as it was done right. I doubt the Johnsons have the juice to build a stadium on their own without public financing though, and the Bills have beaten them to it. It's going to be a lot more affordable for them to stay at MetLife.

A lot depends on Related and whether they can be bought out or persuaded to alter their plans (again), too. Our guys have dropped some hints about "acquiring parcels" and that sort of thing, so maybe it's already been done. It's not hard to see the South Bronx plan getting blended with what Related already has on the table for the Iron Triangle.

A nifty 27,000-seat soccer stadium would be a nice crown jewel with the right approach. Much better than a 65,000-seat behemoth for that location.

Although I live in Manhattan, I would much rather see a NYCFC Stadium in the Bronx. That said, I would also hope that there is a true effort to have it benefit the community.

I think we could start at 30,000 and leave room for expansion. If demand skyrockets, a 10+year down the line expansion to 35 or 40 could be doable.

As long as the stadium footprint stays the same Willets Point should be able to handle that. As it is anything going in there would require an infrastructure buildout (water and sewage, storm drains, etc.) so expansion should be factored in at the beginning.

That's one of the reasons the South Bronx is still preferred, by the way: all the subterranean infrastructure is already in place. Just might need some upgrades.

One caveat. Depending on where you put this thing, you could get away with 22,500 regular seats and 7,500 luxury box seats.

I hope this isn't the case. Obviously there's going to be a huge amount of luxury seats. I just hope they don't price average Joe's out of everything but the upper deck endline.
