Just did some checking and there's an agreement in place (which could mean a few things) for the GAL site, so let's just assume it's been acquired since nothing can actually happen without that piece of the puzzle. The big problem seems to be the parking lot situation.
As far as I’m aware, it’s only the parking lot situation holding anything up.

The GAL sale has an agreement in place in case this were to move forward, the Deegan ramp ownership issue appears to be solved (I say appears because I don’t actually know, but based on context of what I’ve been told, I’m assuming it’s been solved), and the community seems to be all on board

I know the South Bronx location needs the blessing of CB4 but what kind of stamp of approval is needed from the WP location? I mean, there's literally nothing there besides car repair shops.

Just want to clarify that technically, they don’t need the blessing of CB4.

Their vote is more of a formality and the project could proceed with CB4 voting against it.

By the looks of things Related has approval for Phase One: three residential buildings with about 1,000 units at the south end of the Iron Triangle. Which sucks -- if I have it right that's the rectangular parcel I was eyeing for us. :grimacing: Willets Point | Related

The other phases included a shopping mall, which I think is the main bone of contention between the developers and the authorities. There's a lot of other stuff, including flood mitigation, the need to build sewage infrastructure, etc. Supposedly they've "broken ground" but there isn't much activity other than the cleanup (there are some toxic waste issues too, I think).

So there's room to maneuver. Put the right win-win-win deal on the table with the right principals and this thing could get done. I don't think it's possible with the Yankees as junior partners, though. It's tough to tell whether they've been botching things or sabotaging them, but in the end it doesn't much matter. They just can't, or won't, deliver.

How do you think the acknowledgment of 2021 MLS Cup Champions will be displayed at Yankee Stadium (and other home venues) for matches going forward? It’s typically a banner, but where?

If it’s the Yankees’ call, a small pennant on one of the removable smoke stacks.

Do other teams actually hang banners? I think columbus just had “2020 mls cup champions” in one of their stands but no banner.

skc has their wall with the titles and years but no banners I think.

I know we can't do this field configuration because of the pitcher's mound, but would we even want to do so? It doesn't seem to have many advantages over the NYCFC soccer configuration in terms of viewing angles and distance between the stands and the field of play. Maybe this allows for a wider field? I'm not pulling out my protractor to measure. But I cannot think of any other possible advantage this allows.

An American football fields is 120x53-1/3 yards. I’m not sure we could get our field wider with this set up. Maybe there are better examples out there that shows if it can work.

This. It's in that orientation because that's one way to line up a 120 yard long field. The corners look pretty tight. I am not sure taking 5-10 yards off the length gets you to even 70 yards, much less 75.

I think this would add a lot of mediocre seats at the expense of almost all the good ones.
