I have to ask, which kind of lurker are you: Red Bull or Cosmos?Well regardless of your opinion of his opinions, he's advancing discussion, so I think the forum could stand to be a little more polite.
Because thats the trendCity. Why did you think otherwise?
I wouldn't use the word "polite" to describe his interactions on this forum. Im sorry, you can't come and stir the hornet's nest and then play the high ground. The response to sbrylski is what he is referring to with regards to the atmosphere of the forum. sbrylski posts stating, very politely, his opinion of the value that Leo brings to the discussions on this forum. Then sbrylski is harassed because other posters disagree with him. I disagree with his opinion with regards to Leo, but since he is expressing it politely I see no reason for harassment. Even if he was being confrontational it is better to respond reasonably and politely. One will never change the mind of a troll or fanatic, but there are ten times as many lurkers who can be swayed one way or the other who will appreciate a measured response.
If you are referring to sbrylski, he was very polite. If you are referring to Leo, then no he was not polite. Nevertheless my point stands that it is better to react without hostility, since the goal sn't to change Leo's mind if you disagree with him. Rather the goal is to influence the neutral lurker. It's like a political debate, they aren't arguing with each other rather than trying to convince the people watching.I wouldn't use the word "polite" to describe his interactions on this forum. I'm not sure if you meant your post to read the way it does. You say not to be negative and that people will gravitate towards our positivity. Then you paint entire fanbases with a negative brush. The post is somewhat contradictory. I don't mean to be inflammatory I just found it amusing.I think we should be easy going and positive. Things are going well for us, we have a bright future and we're growing by the hour. We shouldn't show any negativity and lower ourselves to the level of those other fan bases who's future looks gloom. People will gravitate towards our positivity and good spirits as opposed to the bitterness and hate the NJ and LI fans have.
You can take it that way and I probably should make clear that it is not every single NJ or LI fans but if you just look at comments on articles related to NYCFC, the negative comments are from angry and bitters fans of those teams and that's a fact. I shouldn't paint the entire fan base but those fans in particular do it to themselves.I'm not sure if you meant your post to read the way it does. No doubt and I agree with you. There are trolls who are flaming those articles and it's probably a small number of bitter fans. But on many of the outlets I frequent I encounter fans of the Cosmos and Red Bulls who are intelligent, reasonable and pleasant. I'm sure when the NYCFC fanbase expands we will have trolls who identify as NYCFC fans. Hopefully there will be more of us who are intelligent, reasonable and pleasant so that we can be referred to in a positive light. You can take it that way and I probably should make clear that it is not every single NJ or LI fans but if you just look at comments on articles related to NYCFC, the negative comments are from angry and bitters fans of those teams and that's a fact. It dont matter how polite he is. I dont care. He will get what is currently gettingThe response to sbrylski is what he is referring to with regards to the atmosphere of the forum. sbrylski posts stating, very politely, his opinion of the value that Leo brings to the discussions on this forum. We´ll have our share of wummers, kippers and bell ends no doubt.. But I resent visitors taking a "holier than thou" attitude without knowing their onions, that makes them fair game in my book
I would actually welcome a reasonable debate with fans of RBNY and Cosmos but sniping at our owners while having wahabite overlords like Cosmos is a bit rich for example.
As for the fan culture in NY itself it´s constantly changing and no one of us knows what it will look like 5-10 years from now.
agreeed this is a very sad supporters group so far. All anyone is interested in doing is making t shirt designs and other crap like that. There are 241 members on this site and 1/3 of the amount of tickets sold as atlanta. I know its very early but early grade for this team and supporters is an F. Focus should be on getting tickets sold and members to the site, spend some time talking to friends, sending out social media messages letting people know about the forum and the team and stop designing t shirts and thinking of chants. Right now there will 10 people wearing your t shirt and chanting in the supporters section. Most people in NYC have no idea this team is coming next year, thats the issueI've been one of the people who have said we need to hurry up and move things along. Everyone who said what's the rush: that's the rush. We are the joke of MLS right now.
