Stadium Discussion

I haven't yet taken the survey, but I find this focus a bit interesting.

One of the supposed benefits of our location in Queens is to access the grass roots love of soccer that exists there. This is from a largely immigrant community that would support their neighborhood team. These are not the people who are going to shell out $40K for a corporate box or $200/game for sideline seats. These are the people who will buy inexpensive tickets, show up in large numbers, and spend on food, drink and merchandise. That suggests more seats and fewer premium experiences.

That was one of my thoughts -- we're not watching Pat Mahomes and Saquon Barkley here. For the majority of the games, the biggest names on the field will be players like Walker Zimmerman, Jesus Fereira, or Thiago Almada. If people want an expensive/fancy night out they'll do a dinner in the city or an NFL game, not an MLS game in Willets Point.

Isn't that what it's like at most MLS stadiums? RBA basically is like that.
I’ve been to RBA, Audi field, and the RioT, and only RBA was some what like that. Atleast RBA had 100 level seats where as this mock-up didn’t seem to have 100s. Audi had boxes and then 200s above that as well at the RioT

i think it did have 100's but it was reserved under like "team seating" or something. and it was quite small.

Which again is my qualm. We lose one whole side of the stadium for cheers chants and noise to busy bodies in suits.

Agree 100% and if I can go off topic a bit the same can be said for dynamic pricing, too.

I truly doubt that the stadium will have all of the seating options and facilities included in the survey - and all of the price points. The stadium has size limitations.

I suspect the next survey will have fewer options, with the least popular choices removed. Au revoir couches?

A survey like this is intended to determine both our preferences, and the intensity of those preferences, particularly as they relate to price.

For example, they are trying to see whether we will pay more for wider seats or a small table, and if so, how much. They are also trying to see whether we will pay more for seats closer to the middle of the pitch or higher or lower, etc. and again - how much.

That's why they set things up as a series of comparisons. They'll take the data from our 10 choices and put all that into various formulae and come up with some ideas about how much more we will pay for nicer things - not necessarily whether we will pay $50 more or $100 more, but whether we will pay 1.5x or 2.0x.

Assume you are trying to answer this question. We can fit 5,000 seats in this section, or 3,000 premium seats that are cushioned and wider. Which will get us the most money? If fans are only willing to pay 1.5x for the premium seats, then they don't pay off.

How dare you even ask to go off topic in the Stadium Thread! That would be like Counting Crows transitioning into a Grateful Dead cover in the middle of their set.

Maths.

So I tried my best to figure out the Tottenham Hotspurs Stadium and convert the prices into the US prices. I sit in the south end line, and I know they were just figuring out pricing model, but the suggested NYCFC prices were higher than the Hotspurs prices. I have posted the spreadsheet and link to the tottenham seating charts so people can look at their seats and compare.

I hope they're not going to do the entire back side is premium like RB and a bunch of others have. I hope it's closer to what philly has. Mostly regular seats plus hospitality at the top. Would ruin immersion if it's one entire side engulfed by hospitality.
Agree. It looks like that is the current plan. I went straight at it in my comments.
