Certainly, but the latter portion of your statement is probably 99% of the reason they opted to sell a portion of the company to the Chinese investors. The money must still come from somewhere and why not from strategic partners..

Maybe they can work with CT and MA and get Metro North coming right up to Springfield, MA! We have been working to get more rail service up here!Maybe CFG makes a deal with a city to extend the 7 Train to the sight.
extend or completely divert it north? it would have to be a new track and train #.Maybe CFG makes a deal with a city to extend the 7 Train to the sight.
It could be a spur from Willets Point, and there might be enough room for a couple of tracks on the ground next to the Whitestone. Could still be the 7 train, just with a different destination. They already do that with a few lines already. As always though, the question would be who pays for it.extend or completely divert it north? it would have to be a new track and train #.
I would hate the sight of overhead tracks, but it would be nice to have some more transit options in the area.

In a letter to the editors of Crain’s, Michael J Gill, one of the founders of the South Bronx Overall Economic Corporation and former chairman of the little loved SoBro, is proposing that the Yankees owner Hank Steinbrenner, along with Bronx Borough President Ruben Diaz Jr, consider moving the legendary Madison Square Garden to The Bronx.

They just renovated it, and why would they leave Manhattan?
Ha! I brought this up back on page #200 and everybody said it was crazy talk (both that the Garden would move and that the site *could* be suitable for a stadium)...... per the recently linked articles, it seems like a lot of people with more at stake in the city than me are also trying to lay groundwork for the move.Because, as Gill pointed out in his letter, their special operating permit expires in 2023 and unless it's extended again, they have to move. For more background: NYT: Madison Square Garden Is Told to Move (7/24/2013)
Hope it's not Columbia...

No worries at all! My amusement is that the NYC movers/shakers are talking about a MSG relocation so it's not simply interweb forum banter at play.Apologies for not tagging you, but I posted it here because you had brought it up
Moving MSG away from its current location will NEVER EVER happen.

I still don't know why Pier 40 can't work. It generates 6/m per year for Hudson River Park...but the thing is deteriorating and the trust doesn't want to pay for it...so it will continue to rot and there will be no revenue. Chelsea Pier had opposition, but now its a gold mine for the city. The revenue possibilities for an open air stadium at Pier 40 is astronomical and far exceeds any investment. The site as it stands is 15 acres...RBA for comparison is on a 12.5 acre footprint. It is a win-win for all in my opinion.
