Any idea as to whether or not the pitch is shorter or narrower?

The pitch in the picture is regulation width. You can tell by the hashmarks on the end line next to the penalty area.*

That's at least 70 yards wide (like ours), maybe 71 or 72. Not sure if that picture is from 2011 or is more recent.

* - those hashmarks delineate 10 yards from the spot of a penalty kick, or 11 yards from the sideline. That's 22 yards on each side. You add that to the 44 yard width of the box, and you get 66 yards. So, the key is to look at how far the hashmark is from the side of the penalty area. That is at least 2 yards in the photo, and 2 yards on each side gets you to 70 yards total.

In the meantime, STH continue to drop and I think a big factor in that is the lack of any news about the stadium.

Curious, where do you find details on the number of STH? Attendance does look to be struggling on gameday I but have no data to actually reinforce my thought.

Grant Wahl tweeted around the start of the year that we had 17,000. Still very good to be fair, but down from the 20,000 we had at the end of year one.

The layout for soccer sucks. Still, beggars can't be choosers.

Is that from before or after they moved the outfield wall in? It's really going to be a tough fit.

And notice that in the photo the mound is outside the touchline. If the field gets tilted to a greater angle to avoid the mound it'd have to be even shorter. You could *maybe* get a 70 yard width but you'd have to go down to maybe 100 yards in length to get that to fit inside the fences. Although I suppose I'd be more than willing to pay a lot of money to see Johnson score from a goal kick on the fly. Top *that*, Villa!

So the consensus seems to be that Citi Field may be worse than Yankee Stadium when it comes to field dimensions?

Not to mention, their Crew haven't turned over a baseball field into a soccer pitch in how many years?

Got a question, what's GAL?

G.A.L. Manufacturing Corporation - an elevator manufacturer in the Bronx having its main facility near Yankee Stadium and adjacent to one of the Yankee Stadium parking lots. The Club had an option to buy the manufacturing facility and a deal to combine that location with the adjacent parking lot to create a site for a soccer stadium. Deal was killed by DeBlasio once he came into office, but there is always hope that it will be revived.

Interesting news I found when looking into this. This past May, a private equity firm, Golden Gate Capital, bought a majority stake in GAL, with the family owners retaining a minority.

Thanks guys. I wonder if we can actually fit a stadium there. Also wonder if they'll give us that location seeing as how it's a pretty convenient location for NYCFC to stay in the Bronx and near a location where everyone is pretty much accustomed to traveling to.
