Damn that's a big plot of land. Wouldn't personally mind a stadium here at all.

Putting the stadium in the northeast corner would make it a short walk from the subway and further away from people's homes.
I put it where it is because I wanted to fit it into the lot in the smallest way possible to show how much extra space would be available. If there's no other land available it'd fit just fine but the rest of the complex would have to be a multi-level parking structure if they want anyone to drive there. Would be nicer to have enough room to put the parking on a different lot but not sure how much additional land is available. I'd rather have it be flat land with seven exits than a six-story parking garage with two exits and unending traffic.

So, not far from the Van Wyck, not far from the subway, but also not ideally located either. It'd work, but it's also a ton of cars coming into a neighborhood that's maybe not ready for that. It's sort of near the Belt, sort of near the Grand Central but what's going to happen is the entire universe will be heading for the Van Wyck and competing with JFK traffic.

Walking, it's maybe 15 minutes from the F train at Parsons Blvd, no more than half that from the E or the LIRR. Could also take the A train to Lefferts, or the J/Z to Jamaica. So looks like an hour and a little change max from midtown, Queens, or Brooklyn, a bit more from uptown or the Bronx.

Executive Summary: B- for location, A+ if it can open for the 2020 or 2021 season.

Elmhurst is doable...the only thing is what others mentioned....the iffyness of the neighborhood ....at least when i last went there a few years ago parts was iffy.

For us Westchester/Connecticut folk, the only way to get to the Elmhurst location would be driving. On line mapping says 40-45 minutes for me, which is reasonable, but some of that would be on the Van Wyck, which is never reasonable. By contrast, Yankee Stadium is about 30 minutes for me, with some of that being off ramp traffic. Given the neighborhood around the Elmhurst Site, I would guess I'd have to budget an hour to get to an Etihad Stadium there. I would do that.

Belmont would be even easier for me - only 35-40 minutes, but I wouldn't bother going if attendance was poor.

I'm not one to get very hot and bothered by decisions the organization makes, or am one particularly super frustrated with the current stadium situation.

But I would drop my tickets if we went to Belmont. That's a complete non-starter for me.

I think most of us would drop our tickets if they set up in Belmont, I know I would.

deep breaths! maybe we should just remain calm until we hear more - all this talk of people walking away from the club after even a whiff from an unnamed source (that isn't authorized to publicly discuss any of this), is concerning - we don't know the details or the reasoning behind the bid

To be fair, I think this Belmont big is nothing to worry about. I don't think its a serious bid effort by the club.

But, in the small chance that it goes through, my tickets would be dropped (I think I'd still follow the team though).

Once season tickets start getting dropped?

They already are losing season ticket holders.

There's some value in season tickets with regards to the access you have to the team (players & experiences) and the discount on food in the stadium. But you're paying for it by shelling out a lot more $ than someone getting the same ticket on StubHub.

I'd like to see a survey put out by the team asking what other amenities the team can offer to City Members.

I feel like what you are saying is pretty rational. The thing is, supporting a football club isn't really about being rational to me. It's one of few corners in my life which I allow to be completely batshit, and therein lies the reward.

It's ok to be batshit as long as there aren't unreasonable time constraints or costs associated with having the opportunity to be batshit.

horrible place to drive to, horrible, horrible horrible. I mean they have been working on the van wyck forever so once thats done maaaybe it gets a little better, but its just the worst, it will become a mass transit only for most people.

BUT, selfishly my pops bought a warehouse a while back on 156/liberty for his business which is 5 min walk from the site, so I am set when it comes to parking, so for me I can overlook the horrible horrible commute cause it would be awesome to own property near the stadium of what could be my life long club. Pretty exciting (for me) if that gets picked. The neighborhood is still super industrial, but holy crap has it changed and keeps changing. This might be a great spot for the long term with how much money is getting pumped into Jamaica.

I don't think there's any reasonable way for me to get Belmont from the New Haven area on public transport? I'd probably prefer we stay at Yankee Stadium forever.

Belmont is a non-starter for most people north of the city. I think Willets would be about as far as I could go on a season ticket long basis coming from Rockland.
