Stadium Discussion

You guys do realize that a shit ton of support comes from long island so closer to lirr the better. Even the Rangers know that. Otherwise you get nothing. The Yankees have no choice. It's looking like Staten Island because of open space and the ability to run a bus line, or queens and fuck the people who don't want a Flushing Meadows stadium. The amount of money that the city will get will say go jump off a cliff to most of the people in Flushing that would bitch

Long Island is a vapid hole in a death spiral. they couldn't support the islanders so they are leaving and and the Nets left years ago.

Why do we need training grounds anyway. It seems wasteful to me having a giant stadium for only 17 games hopefully a few playoff games and maybe a few concerts

No self respecting team would ever train on the same pitch they play on. Imagine playing on the pitch you trained on the entire week, the thing would be torn up. Especially in bad weather.

Damn, Atlanta already started building their stadium???? Really wish NYCFC has a done stadium deal in place from the start. We're going to be waiting a while for a stadium.

Well it's going to be a multi-use thing with the Falcons, right? I bet they had this laid out before the soccer team was even considered. I have no idea, though.

As far as our stadium; If I can get there within an hour on the subway/LIRR, I'll be happy. I don't care where it is.

Forever actually. We are going to be waiting forever. No news, no even slightly creditable rumors, no idea of even what site to build it on. We will be lucky to break ground by the time Atlanta 2017 is playing on their field.

Not sure, but you could be right.

Same here, as long as it's in NYC. I'll take Staten Island at this point.

That's my concern as well. I'm just don't want them to get desperate and end up outside of NYC. That can't happen imho. They're New York City Football Club, not New York Football Club.

Its clear to me that they should put it on Governors Island. Yep, Governors Island.

Unlikely? You bet. Perfect? you bet.

There's shit to do around most stadiums. Every been to Citi Field? Unless you want to buy car parts, or watch planes land, the area is dead. Most folks want to leave after a game, so I don't see this as a must-have for the stadium location.

I am still a big proponent of Aqueduct. That said about the training grounds they really don't need public transport to get to them as we are not really going to go watch the team practice so much. (Yes I do realise that the Academy will be there once that gets started) That said why can't the training ground be in the city but out of the way? I'm looking at you Floyd Bennett Field.

I agree with you Floyd Bennett Field would be a great spot for the Academy it has a ton of space they can build on. It is city owned though so I am sure the parks department might be a pain in the ass to work with.

@CP_Scouse outside of Billy's occassionally before and after a game, no one is hanging out after a Yankee game right now. It's not like you have restaurant row right there.

I love the idea of Governor's Island. Would be beautiful views. But it's just not feasible.
