I love the idea of Governor's Island. Would be beautiful views. But it's just not feasible.

It was kicked around as an idea for the west side stadium for the giants that never materialized.

"Simultaneously unlikely and perfect, Governor's Island currently languishes in indecision, awaiting its big idea. Perhaps it can accommodate two. The Island itself embodies two conditions: the original "natural" island as it existed until the beginning of the twentieth century and its large southern extension, built from fill excavated during the construction of the IRT. By re-dividing the island into northern and southern islands, the historic northern half could become an extension of the space-challenged United Nations, the perfect site for the pursuits of peace. Appropriately isolated, the southern island would be a glorious and secure site for mass gatherings and big games. The challenge of getting there could also be turned to advantage. Unless a pedestrian bridge or tramway were built from Red Hook (not a completely illogical pair of possibilities), all access would be from the water. But this is less daunting than it otherwise seems. To begin, Governor's Island is very close to both Manhattan – with its existing infrastructure of ferry terminals - and Brooklyn with its capacity to lead cars from the Battery Tunnel and BQE/Gowanus directly to shore-side parking. Moreover, given that football is played on Sundays – when service on the huge Staten Island ferries is reduced – a dedicated boat or two making round trips from South Ferry could efficiently deliver very large numbers of people to the island in minutes. Finally, the proximity of the stadium to the Statue of Liberty raises the prospect of a view of that great symbol through the uprights of another, from the new Freedom Bowl, America's stadium."

just take one of the many piers in brookln/ queens

Brooklyn bridge park is already all claimed. South of that is the last shipping in BK and the cruise ship terminal. Below that though there is some open space. There is the dying South Brooklyn Marine Terminal, and the giant park noone has ever visited or heard of Bush Terminal Piers Park. The park may be big enough for a stadium. The downside is public transportation sucks.

Thats the Brooklyn Navy Yard. Federal land. Plus they are in the middle of a multi-billion dollar re-development process for light industrial/commercial.

Its a complete no go.

And it has literally zero public transportation. One bus line that runs down flushing ave. thats it.

Has there been any new news about the Broadway Junction development? I've never heard anything stadium specific, but I know it's a target for redevelopment and it's a pretty good location. A, C, J, Z, L, LIRR, and Jackie Robinson Freeway. Not the easiest to drive in to from the north, west, or south, but still accessible.

I agree with you Floyd Bennett Field would be a great spot for the Academy it has a ton of space they can build on. It is city owned though so I am sure the parks department might be a pain in the ass to work with.
Sure they can be but also I am sure they can be mollified with a few upgrades to the Parks area by NYCFC.

Another option: University Heights in The Bronx

Better for drivers from the north and west, and from Queens. The 1 and the 4 also run up there.

C'mon, there's gotta be a neighborhood marked for redevelopment that wants to attract 20k*16+ = 320k+ local visitors per year to spur business growth ASAP.

The 30 acres of land they mention for development are a strip along the waterfront, not enough depth to build a stadium out.

Its also ~3/4 of a mile from the subway station. Hudson Metro North stop is at least right by it but they would have to run special service on game days to support the increase demand.

Changing gears, if we could get some of the land they are again, building more fing condos on in Brooklyn (seriously in my 30 years of living here it seems everything has turned into condos) it would be pretty damn ideal.

^ could definitely fit a stadium in that housing strip (right now its empty) and utilize all the infrastructure from the Barclays Center.
