I highly, highly, highly doubt Brad Sims would tell someone's "buddy at work" that the stadium "deal is done" prior to going public about it. Those would be some pretty loose lips from the top.

It's not like Sims is working in a bubble and is the only one with knowledge about stadium shit.

It's an odd quote for sure. Even after you break down that Sims would be the source, the quote is "my buddy at work spoke with...", implying that the info went from Sims to the Chavez's source's "buddy". So Chavez would be at least 3 people removed.

But then, the direct quote says, "I think its the Bronx spot.", which would not be the individual who spoke with Sims thinking that, but the middle-man between Chavez and the actual person who supposedly spoke with Sims.

An actual stadium announcement, like a physical, on site ground breaking will be quite interesting with the cast of characters that should be set to attend. Particularly with de Blasio and his presidential bid.

Weirdly, this makes me way more optimistic. Implicit confirmation from the club that there's a deal sensitive enough to be disrupted by rumors, accurate or not. They wouldn't give two shits if nothing was going on behind the scenes.
