So odd that his standard for a bad stadium for the community (Sofi) is one of the handful in this country that the community didn’t have to pay a dime for.Anyone know further details about this?

If you go all the way down to the bottom, they list a Sears/KMart/parking lot site that's right behind the Kings Theatre for those of you who know the area. I'm pretty sure the Sears is permanently closing (if it hasn't already). If you get the stores out of the way, that might not be a bad spot to cram a stadium into...Anyone know further details about this?

Oh that's a shame. Could have been a cool stadium with some unique features that went there given the irregular shape of the lot. Maybe our new mayor can pull some stringsThat location wouldn't qualify for the required stadium special permit - too close to a residential zoning district.
And we'd have had years of good burgers during matches. It's a no brainer. Or woulda been, I suppose.100% agreed if we partnered with the Mets I think we'd have at worst shovels in the dirt right now.

And drives to games would have been ridiculously easy for me from both suffolk county and my home. (though marginally worse for Sabo and our other upstate friends)And we'd have had years of good burgers during matches. It's a no brainer. Or woulda been, I suppose.
Speaking as a Mets Fan. I tend to think the Wilpons would have figured out a way to blow it even worse than the Yankees. This is a family that managed to build a stadium in the 21st century that with all the technology available still has large areas with obstructed views of the field. And Madoff. And Bobby Bonilla. The team would probably be in Raleigh by now.100% agreed if we partnered with the Mets I think we'd have at worst shovels in the dirt right now.
Also as Mets fan I think you need to add…Speaking as a Mets Fan. I tend to think the Wilpons would have figured out a way to blow it even worse than the Yankees. It's interesting that both NY baseball stadiums were lessened by their fetishizing owners. The Wilpons wanted Ebbets Field II and the Steinbrenner's wanted to replicate OYS as much as they could. Also as Mets fan I think you need to add…
This is a family who gained their wealth in real estate and still managed to build a stadium in the 21st century that with all the technology available still has large areas with obstructed views of the field. No matter how bad Cohen turns out, I won’t miss those clowns.
I agree. Visually citi field looks so homely and fun! YS feels like a giant colliseum which makes sense I guessIt's interesting that both NY baseball stadiums were lessened by their fetishizing owners. Still think Citi is lightyears ahead of Yankee Stadium in visual appeal, though.
I take it you're using the British version of homely to describe Citi Field.I agree. Visually citi field looks so homely and fun! YS feels like a giant colliseum which makes sense I guess
LOL wait what?! The American one is a use of the word 'homely'?!?!?!?! yeah, i meant the british one. (actually I'm thinking of the word heimishe but obviously that's not a good word to use here)I take it you're using the British version of homely to describe Citi Field.
The best description for Yankee Stadium I say is that "it's an amusement park where sometimes sports are played"

Unless you are Sitting in the upper deck and cant see a huge swath of fair territory. YS has no charm but it also doesn’t have massive blind spots.I agree. Visually citi field looks so homely and fun! YS feels like a giant colliseum which makes sense I guess

Yankee Stadium for soccer has many, many blind spots. Many places where you can't see a corner and some where you can't see two.Unless you are Sitting in the upper deck and cant see a huge swath of fair territory. YS has no charm but it also doesn’t have massive blind spots.
