Since the other thread is more of a chant thread how about we make this one for just walk-up songs.
What do you guys have in mind?
What do you guys have in mind?
There is a song by Rob Thomas called "Sunday Morning New York Blues"
At around the 2:00 mark the lyrics go:
Someday
When we get old and our hairs are grey
We won't remember the bad days
Or maybe we will but we won't say
Another Saturday is over
Here comes Sunday shining through
I could stay here forever
Sunday morning New York blue.

I'm not usually a fan of singing songs verbatim at football matches (aside from club anthems - and I generally tend to believe that anthems should be very carefully selected). However, I really like this one, above and beyond the other suggestions people have made.
It references New York briefly - I've not really been a fan of the anthem suggestions just because they have "New York" in them; most English club anthems don't reference their team or location at all - it has a cautious optimism to it, and yet a wry willingness to accept that the bad times will, and eventually have, occur(ed), the term "another Saturday is over" is just too perfect, and the references to when we get old give off the right vibes about this being a club for the long term, which is exactly what it should be. In short, I simply can't think of a better combination than this.

I like that a lot. Not normally a fan of Rob Thomas/Third Eye Blind, but it's very fitting. Easy melody. Sounds like something thousands of people can sing in unison. There is a song by Rob Thomas called "Sunday Morning New York Blues"

I mean an intro song... When the players are walking to the pitch. Similar to when Never Walk Alone is sung.
Here's an idea for one
Change Hold Your Hand to - Watch You Play
and
When I Touch You - When I Watch You
Oh yeah, I'll tell you something
I think you'll understand
When I'll say that something
I wanna hold your hand
I wanna hold your hand
I wanna hold your hand
Oh please, say to me
You'll let me be your man
And please, say to me
You'll let me hold your hand
I'll let me hold your hand
I wanna hold your hand
And when I touch you I feel happy
Inside
It's such a feeling that my love
I can't hide
I can't hide
I can't hide
Yeah, you've got that something
I think you'll understand
When I'll say that something
I wanna hold your hand
I wanna hold your hand
I wanna hold your hand
And when I touch you I feel happy
Inside
It's such a feeling that my love
I can't hide
I can't hide
I can't hide
Yeah, you've got that something
I think you'll understand
When I'll feel that something
I wanna hold your hand
I wanna hold your hand
I wanna hold your hand
I wanna hold your hand
really like it would have to be repeated 2 or 3 times though but it could definitely workThere is a song by Rob Thomas called "Sunday Morning New York Blues"

I think so too. It's very easy to sing along to.I LOVE THIS!! This would sound amazing as they walk onto the pitch
I'm always down for Billy Joel.also could do this... \
Some folks like to get away
Take a holiday from the neighborhood
Hop a flight to Miami Beach
Or to Hollywood
But I'm taking a Greyhound
On the Hudson River Line
I'm in a New York state of mind
I've seen all the movie stars
In their fancy cars and their limousines
Been high in the Rockies under the evergreens
But I know what I'm needing
And I don't want to waste more time
I'm in a New York state of mind
It was so easy living day by day
Out of touch with the rhythm and blues
But now I need a little give and take
The New York Times, The Daily News
It comes down to reality
And it's fine with me 'cause I've let it slide
Don't care if it's Chinatown or on Riverside <---- x2
I don't have any reasons
I've left them all behind
I'm in a New York state of mind
I'm just taking a Greyhound on the Hudson River Line
'Cause I'm in a New York state of mind
I don't really see the Andrew WK as an anthem/walk-out song. I love love love the song, but it is too up-tempo for an anthem, it should be sung during the gameplay. The other two are good anthem candidates though.I'm always down for Billy Joel.
I'd say it's a toss-up between this, Rob Thomas or Andrew WK.
Yes.Just out of curiousity... Are we sure we would even have a say in the team's walk up song?
