I have no idea if it's a good list in the sense of whether it could be better and omits options that should be there, but it definitely brought something worthwhile to my attention.

JP Wiser Canadian Triple Barrel Rye is my new cheap jam.

The list is pretty good, but I laugh every time High West gets praise because they haven’t rolled out their own whiskey yet, all of theirs is too young and still in the barrel, and instead they repackage liquid bought from MGP in Indiana. They’re the ultimate in marketing and tacking on an upcharge for a catchy label.

The Hudson Baby Bourbon is quite nice, although pricey for the bottle size, and their tasting room is a fun visit when in the New Paltz region. Highly rec this and their other products.

King’s County makes some good stuff too and also rec their tasting room in the Guardhouse on the edge of the Bkln Navy Yard. That’s definitely worth a visit for any self-respecting NY’er with an affinity for whiskey.

Bulleit is the Ulrich House brand for a number of reasons. Not a fan of the Bulleit Rye, but all versions of Bourbon are exemplary.

A few that don’t make the list but I’d add deserve to are:
IW Harper 15year - this is damn nice
Eagle Rare - for those of us that don’t lay out for Pappys but want a distant cousin.

I’m annoyed at Bulleit more than any other brand, simply because it was my go to no name for $20. Now they want $40. I can’t do it. It’s not even as good.

Also, Basil was my standard rocks bourbon. At $32, it was spectacular.

Kinda funny you railing on the price of bourbon going up when in another thread you acknowledge supporting a club with a massive socialist culture while admitting to being a non-socialist:

And I pretty clearly support an English club with massive socialist culture pervasive in its supporter ethos. Although, I find it funny as a non-socialist to find how often they are socialist to suit, and not much more.

All alcohol in NYC is pricier than outside the city, and the price point wouldn’t have gone up if there wasn’t a demand for the product - those increases aren’t made in a vacuum.

I feel pretty sound lamenting the raised popularity resulting in raised prices. But I appreciate the lesson in economics, even though I think my complaint itself demonstrated said lesson was unnecessary.

One can completely logically support a process that occasionally yields results that one disapproves of.

As for the other stuff, I’m not drawing the connection.

I'm in Westchester and it's mostly sold $50+ here too. Gotta dig around and, more importantly, build relationships.
