Spinning out of an off-topic discussion we were having elsewhere. I figured it'd be worth keeping tabs on the league that hopes to rival MLS.

Seen this interesting tweet posted just yesterday:

I'm betting at least San Francisco will be added for 2017. As they need that for D1 status. I could see Detroit added as well as they have something pretty well established. OKC seems like a bit of a long shot.

Attendence from recent games:

4,322 in Atlanta
3,773 in Ft. Lauderdale
9,840 in Indy
6,135 in Tampa
9,418 in Minnesota
3,438 in NY
3,374 in Carolina
2,903 in Ft. Lauderdale
7,163 in Jacksonville
7,759 in San Antonio
4,240 in Edmonton

Outside of the Cosmos, Carolina, and Ft. Lauderdale....it's not too bad for a D2 league. I bet they're hoping Miami FC will help both Ft. Lauderdale and Miami succeed sort of like NYCFC has really given a boost to New Jersey.

these are college team#s

And I might be wrong but did they not get the 2nd (nyc) team because of some crazy demands by the owner

i thought OKC was dead as there are already is a USL team there? and i think another OK team as well. not sure the market is big enough for another team.

as for the Detroit, if its the same NPSL team then they have a good fan base and good support so it makes sense, if its a whole new ownership group then

as for San francisco, I wonder where do they play/ ownership as i think they only have an amateur team there.

I could see it.

San Antonio is virtually a lock to enter MLS at some point. Joining the MLS-backed USL would be a nice gesture towards that.

so losing minnesota, possible San Antonio, and possibly moving Silverbacks ( i dont think they will let it die if it starts failing after MLS Atlanta start playing) to another city, and grasping anything they can get in the west coast. I still dont see how they "deserve" to be a first division.

Def think this is a second division not that it would keep from going sometimes if they really put a team in Hartford as rumored a few months ago.

its not that, its this constant push and complaints from their hardcore followers and FO people saying "MLS is screwing us". i mean like yesterday when their president or some executive was saying that "MLS planted a negative NASL story
in the NYT and that is hurting them so much . As others have mentioned, the NYT barely covers MLS so now its "influenced" by them?

they dont have division 1 facilities and they arent spending the $$$ they claim they have to get at least some of them teams good facilities. just admit the division II and you can probably successful that way and take part in "the growth of the sport" they keep claiming to be the end goal.

http://www.hartfordcityfc.com/ Well bizarre as it is Indoor is definitely happening. Maybe NASL still to follow. Wouldn't keep me from coming to NYCFC cause I consider it different levels but Hartford a little closer for me so would go sometimes if it happened.

lol.... you sure that story wasn't "planted by the MLS" to give NASL a bad rep?
This exact type of story that will destroy NASL in their lawsuit against USSF (and essentially MLS). They can't even keep solidified themselves, why both with fighting to be #1. We all k ow they are going to lose. MLS has billionaires. NASL is lucky if they have millionaires involved. And that's minus daddy warbucks Traffic.

i am curious, if NASL starts involving the USSF in government legal matters, does this invite FIFA to ban the USSF for government involvement in the USSF matters?

Why would the USSF be in trouble with FIFA? NASL is the one using US legal system to make USSF change internal rules. If anything FIF might rule against NASL for bringing gov't outsiders into an internal matter.

I feel that in case NASL wins then government will impose its rules upon USSF. Anytime a government has the lightest touch on a Federation they send warnings or even suspend them for a bit. Like Nigeria was suspended for a bit.
