[title Edit By Mod] Another Tired Argument About Manchester City And Lampard - March 2015 Edition

NYCFC have only played 2 games, 1 at home so there's no strong bond between supporters and the club.

I've heard this opinion from a lot of people on your side of the pond, but it's just not true. There are a lot of people on this forum who have supported this team since the day it was announced. There are a lot who have spent the last six months to a year on here discussing the club. Hell, a lot of us have been waiting for years for a local team that we could actually support. It's not like the supporter switch doesn't flip on until the first ball is kicked.

The truth is there is a very strong bond between a lot of supporters (especially those dedicated enough to spend their time on this forum) and the club.

So, this anger that you just walked into is not a bunch of people who decided to support the club already hating MCFC and the kit and all. It is dedicated supporters who feel a real connection to the club and were told that we would have a unique identity and then handed a MCFC copy kit without the kind of minor details that could have supported that promise. We were told that we had signed Frank fucking Lampard as our DP and he was plastered on billboards and interviewed as the new face of the club, then they turned around and told us that he had never really signed with us and would show up when he felt like it.

This is the anger of dedicated fans who disagree with some of the decisions made by our ownership. Same as I'm sure some of you Mancs will feel this summer when Toure, Kompany, Dzeko, and/or Zaboleta get the boot.

You need to understand that CFG are the best owners in the world, you'll be the best team in the MLS in the next 3 years, have the best stadium, best training facilities and best supporter facilities, mark my words
We haven't seen that yet and, don't take things on the words of others. They will show us or shut up.

Player's come and go but like I said before, MCFC don't own NYCFC! CFG own the 3 'City' clubs, CFG obviously choose your colours.

I specifically said "our ownership." Maybe if you actually read the words on the page before spouting the same line over and over again we could have a reasonable discussion.

You say we're not that connected to the club, I say that we are and explain where the anger comes from. You respond by basically asking why we hate your precious MCFC.

And we know what CFG has done in Manchester. Even if we hadn't seen it from following the EPL, we've been told that by a thousand other Manchester supporters who have come over here to make the same promise. That promise is empty until we start to see results. Sure it is possible, maybe even likely, that CFG want's to/will invest like that here, but until we see it we can't be sure. Constantly repeating the same tired line isn't reassuring, it just makes you look like a condescending wanker.

Why do you feel the need to swear to prove a point? I don't have a condescending bone in my body, I asked a sensible question and to be fair most people made valid points but only fot you to start using insults. I'm not going to enter into trading insults with you and I wish you all the best supporting NYCFC. Cheers

Fair enough. I retract the name calling, but maintain that that kind of post only serves to make MCFC supporters look condescending and dismissive and stoke the fires.

You'll never understand because you're an MCFC fan first. Not trying to offend in anyway, just stating a fact.

They lied to us, plain and simple, and none of them had the balls to apologize. Lampard is a coward. If he truly wanted to play here he would have stepped up and stopped all that nonsense. And while I do appreciate that MCFC helped make this team, it doesn't excuse them from treating us like a second rate team. On top of it, they barely played Lampard, which just made it all worse. After all this shit, I could careless about the connection NYCFC has with MCFC. This is coming from someone who initially supported the MCFC connection, and the similar home kit design. I was proud to have MCFC as an owner. Not anymore.

I love NYCFC. I will bleed for them. They're my team, and always will be, even if MCFC tries to undermine them. And as much as I can't stand Lampard, I will stand behind him once he wears the NYCFC jersey.

I've moved past Lampardgate, but I will never forget.
Can I ask an honest question ,I understand why you don't like how cfg behaved I get that .
What I don't get is why you hate cfg but are prepared to forgive nycfc who fed you a pack of lies, surely you should hate both and walk away.?
Surely the pre contract/contract he signed just maybe someone perhaps even a lawyer might have checked it out ? To say they had no idea sounds unbelievable.

People need to understand the difference between highest bidder and only bidder, there was always going to be A team in New York city, CFG just paid the highest to get the shot to do it. People need to realize New Yorkers will always call you out on bullshit, and Lampard and CFG signed up for that, the moment they said they were coming.
Another honest question cfg won the bidding rights for nycfc do we know who any of the other bidders were and what sort of plans did they have or was it secret bidding ?

Why are the Blackpool fans not abandoning the club in their dispute with Karl Oyston? Because they hold out hope that Oyston will either listen to the fans or will sell up to a more accommodating owner. The same goes here.

Most Blackpool fans would have support going back generations, they wouldn't have much choice who to support

Over 6,500 have jacked it this time at Blackpool .maybe you can give an English perspective why cfg is hated .I get but why arnt nycfc held accountable in any of this ?
And by the way you never responded sunny winsford

Yes they would, but so what? It doesn't change the fact that, just like Blackpool fans, the NYCFC fans choose not to abandon the team because they hold out hope that CFG will either sell up or give them a team with more individuality and stop screwing things up. So what if they decide not to abandon the club? Realistically, who would they go back to supporting if they did? The Cosmos, whose fans have been so arrogant and egotistical that they've alienated vast swathes of potential fans, and who will never have the money to play at the top level? The Red Bulls, whose ownership is twice as bad as CFG, and whose team many have simply never found a connection with? Just accept that they will never have a true club to support?
