By the way, this is just awesome. Love NYCFC honoring NYPD and FDNY.

We look so sloppy sometimes. Then Mendozza, Villa or Pirlo do things that make you go "WOW".

This is a match we should have won 3-2.

That was my prediction and I am pissing mad. This was winnable game. The team needs to keep focus on holding the victory to the last second until the ref blows that whistle. Last season we lost many games that WE were winning on those last 2 -3 minutes. WE the fans are crowing victory and as soon as we start rising from our seats for halftime break and , wham- bam our rival is winning or has tied the game. Its not for lack of energy or words but I am a lady, can not curse like a sailor
Ladies can operate ships too :)

Love looking at standings on MLS site and seeing us in top 3 in the East!

Random question -- I see on the forum main discussions page that it displays "Season Ticket Holders Now Online". How does a STH get designated as such on this site?? Is there a confirmation process? Thanks for any possible help/info!
Send me a private message. Click my. And and select 'Start Conversation' and attach a photo of your season card or anything that would classify you as a season ticket holder. Even a screenshot of your account manager.

I did find the atmosphere at the stadium pretty sedate, though the SG section was trying to keep the noise up. The rest of us in the general crowd never really got going, though there was a brief "NYC! NYC!" chant before the restart after the second Toronto goal. I dunno... I guess I'd just hoped for a little more oomph from us in the stands for opening day. Maybe we're all just skeptical after last year, or maybe I should remember that this is the town where people stand still with their arms folded at concerts too.

Speaking of supporters, did Toronto even have an away section? The away section used to be right next to my section, but not anymore. I think I saw a couple of rows of red shirts above the first base line, but even Toronto didn't seem to know where their traveling support was sitting.

Away supporters are now in 217 on the first base side. Last year they were in 223 I think. There were some there, maybe 50 or so, but not near enough to fill the section. The 200-level sections each hold around 400 to 500 people, depending on how many rows they have.

I found the supporters were really loud in the early going. So much so that I was wondering if was due to my new seat location, even though I think I'm roughly the same distance away but on the other side. But it subsided after the first few minutes. Not that they were weak after that but I do think they gave it extra throat in the first 10 minutes or so.

Just read the NYCFC part... Did I just read 3-3-4?

Edit: Taylor- Villa-(Mullins)- Mendoza

Or....
Zlatan Confirmed.
Solid analysis. Backs up the idea that Toronto's adjustment exploited our lack of width in defense and forced Taylor and Shelton to track back and left Villa isolated. Not sure we really adjusted against this, perhaps until we brought White on, but by then we were back to 2-2. Let's hope we rehearse that transition in training this week in case Orlando is wise to exploiting our 3-man backline. Interesting times!

I think could see some changes Friday. Looking at how the midfield kinda fell off after the 75th min, and the way Mix has looked completely spent after the final whistle, we may get a different look on Friday, which would be perfect fine. I think you could give Mix, Shelton, Mac or Tony all breathers, assuming Frank, Poku, Mendoza are ready to go. Then again, Mix played a full game in Europe, flew back to NYC and was a late sub (and scored) last year.

Were there any give-aways either inside or outside the Stadium yesterday. I arrived later than planned and didn't see evidence of either. I really liked the schedule magnets they gave away outside at opening day last year.
The only giveaway I saw was a large (12-16" diameter) round poster with the logo on one side and the schedule on the other. I also liked the magnet schedule last year. Still on my fridge actually!!!

Huh? He wasn't amazing tonight or anything but he was pretty damn solid and also drew the PK. Yeah he isn't gonna score a goal and get an assist every game, but he did just fine for us.

Look it's just my opinion, and apparently an unpopular one, but I thought Tommy was a momentum killer yesterday.

Against Chicago whose defenders kept backing off and falling down he looked world class.

Against Toronto's high intensity press he looked extremely average to me.

Receiving a pass from a guy two feet away and falling when clearly tripped is not that impressive.

Lol who heard the chicken bucket chant near 205/206? That shit was hilarious.
That came from 206. It's a great place to sit. I don't know if these guys are an organized SG or not, but they brought the LOLz last season and it looks like they're picking up right where they left off.

MOTM was the guy who pegged the Toronto player with the ball after it going out of play. When they let him back in I think he got more of a crowd response than either of our goals, lol.
Is that what happened? Couldn't figure out why they were giving a standing O to a guy getting tossed and made just as much noise when he returned.

Compared with Chicago game we had just as many good chances on offense and gave up many fewer good chances on D. Improvement. Good.

I think the "We Want Poku" chant last night at YS was in bad form. Yes, it is a statement about our love for a player. But it also will be heard by some as a rebuke to the coach and the players on the field. When we chanted this last summer, the players and coach had already given us 11 winless games and much other grief. We are now undefeated with lots of optimism, lots of new players, lots of good mojo. I don't think it is the time to chant for Poku, much though I'd love to see him play.

Pirlo's corners were right on cue. Brillant was 18 inches right or left from opening his account. We will have corner kick goals this year.

Villa should have had a hat trick. His dink shot was more casual than I think he would have been 1v1 with the goalie if we hadn't been up by 2.

Villa should have only had one goal as his second came off his arm and should have been called a hand ball. Two games in I can't complain about the calls we've gotten.

I'm not a fan of players taking dives, last game Khiry had a chance to take contact with the keeper and he side stepped. Fortunately he finished anyway. Last night Mix had the same chance and he also avoided the contact. Unfortunately, he did not close the deal. They could both take a page from TMac who knows when and how to turn a little contact into a big play.

Yeah, I sat in 205 yesterday and I think I'm going to stay there this year. Don't have season tix b/c of schedule, but last year I usually sat in 131, switched it up this year and I really Like the view a lot more.

The ball flew out of bounds, he caught it, then went to throw it back in towards the ball-person / Toronto player, and it ended up nailing the player in the back. Honestly I think the fan response cheering for that is probably what brought the attention from security. No one thought he should have gotten tossed for that, which is why he got a standing O when he came back.

I can understand it. By the time we used our last sub I was kind of disappointed. I loved that we saw Mendoza, and he looked amazing, but with 2 defensive players coming on at 2-2 it felt a little like we were playing for the draw. I'm okay with that - not criticizing the choice too much - but Poku really could have helped us at that point. So strange he wasn't in the 18. Between that and the Wynalda comments, I just think the fans wanted to let the team know where they stand.

Seeing a lot of Brillant hate, more on FB than here. Is that for the goal? He was a yard away from the guy completely covered, and the best player in the league put it between his legs. If you think that play makes someone a bad defender, watch TO all year and you will see a lot of bad defenders in this league. As Vieira said, sometimes you just respect the talent. I cannot stress enough his value just from the way he plays the ball at his feet. Add in he almost connected on two corner kicks, he's great in the air defensively, and has great positioning.

I agree. Vieira has us playing well, with new ideas that seem to take advantage of our best players. I don't think he will be swayed by chants from the hoi polloi, but I'd rather not try to force him to do something he doesn't want to until its proven that his system is not working.
