Pot one is the current European champions. Real Madrid (Champions League) and Atletico (Europa League), the rest are comprised of the winners of their respective leagues. Pot 2 and down are then decided based off of club coefficient.

EDIT: Had Lokomotiv actually been placed in a pot based off their coefficient they would be in pot 4

When UEFA does their metrics for those spots, it's by leagues...then that league winner is automatically in. The first two are reserved for CL winner and Europe winner. Then the six leagues by their measure in order of rank are: Spain, England, Italy, Germany, France, Russia. They consider Russia the 6th best league in Europe.

And if you look at it at the club level, you see there's multiple teams from the same leagues above any Russian team. There's a very good chance that Moscow's opponent is better.
 
For the Germans, Bayern have it easy, Dortmund should be okay (as long as they decide not to suck against Monaco), Schalke have an easy group, hopefully they don't decide to suck either, and Hoffenheim can enjoy some travels across Europe while getting smacked by City.
Hoping at least BVB and Schalke can get to the knockout round, probably as runner ups in their groups.

B & C are the groups of death in my opinion. Everything else i think is pretty predictable who will make it out

Group A - Atletico win Dortmund and Monaco battle for second
Group B- Barca win, Spurs second though Inter could push them
Group c- PSG and Liverpool not sure on 1 or 2 though Napoli as darkhorses could knock one off
Group D- I guess Schalke and Porto? There's always one shit group...
Group E- Bayern Win Ajax vs Benfica for second
Group F- City win I guess lyon second?
Group G- Real first Roma second
Group H - Juve win and I'm going for Valencia over United unless Jose is fired soon

C looks the toughest, imo. B is mainly just Barca and Totts, maybe Inter if they can get something together.
C is PSG, Napoli, and Liverpool. I think Liverpool edge out Napoli solely because Napoli will try and focus on the Serie A this year again, and may not want to strain themselves across two major competitions. I also don't see Ancellotti working well against the press.
It would also be interesting if PSG fall into shambles and Napoli and Liverpool both make it out.

inter has the team to make it out on paper. but they cant seem to get it together. Lets see what Spaletti can do but i dont think theyll make it out.

I think PSG is good but a bit over rated as far as european competition i think both liverpool and napoli can take them but definitely the group of death and a toss up.

Hear me out, but Group D is the group of death!
Any one of those teams can make it out. All the other groups have 2 or 3 teams that can make it out, but Group D is the one that contains 4 teams that have a chance to make it out. Boom. Group D, the Group of Death.

Atlético/Dortmund
Barca/Inter
PSG/Liverpool
Porto/Schalke
Bayern/Benfica
Man City/Lyon
Madrid/Roma
Juve/Valencia

I think Inter will have a better showing than Napoli and Roma. They have a good team if their defense plays better. Once Nainggolan gets going they are a different team. Napoli is still too one dimensional and I don't like the Roma squad this year
