UEFA Champions League 18/19

Streaming the games via B/R has been worth it.
The Android app is made out of duct tape and inside out cereal boxes, but it's cheaper than Fox Soccer Plus was.

Having Steve Nash call games and offer up punditry is actually refreshing and probably never would have happened on traditional soccer coverage.

I never had a choice, but it's good enough that I'm not disgruntled and I guess that's about as good as we can hope for with a non-democratically-controlled monopoly.

I thought it would have made more sense for the Barca game to be in Spanish and the Napoli v Liverpool in English but as has been mentioned before that was probably decided prior to the competition even starting.
Makes for a difficult switch when the two networks are not of the same company.

I love Steve Nash, but the commentary in the Barcelona - Tottenham game was bad. The whole reason TNT showed that game was because of a longstanding plan to have Stu Holden and Steve Nash call a game together from Camp Nou. So, there was no play-by-play man - just an experienced color man and an inexperienced color man, and it showed. Very disjointed broadcast. Plus, Nash is a huge fan of Tottenham - talks about it all the time - and he couldn't navigate the bias cleanly.

The result not only was poor coverage of a key match, but forcing off of the air the more interesting Liverpool match. A lose-lose for TNT.

I know what you mean about the commentary, but I found it novel. His takes on the game were very unexpected. I'm not sure how I'd feel about it as a regular thing, but there's also a chance that he'll develop over time.

It was such a painful broadcast. Apparently they're doing it again today with the Man Utd game, and hopefully that goes a little smoother without a fan groaning and yelling into a microphone for two hours.

City just had Sterling, B Silva, and Sane all clean in on the keeper and didn't score.

Sterling plays a great ball across to Sane, who does the one thing that could keep them out: play a 4 yard pass to Silva who was directly in front of the keeper with no angle whatsoever. One of the best examples of a team Arsenal-ing I've ever seen.

ETA: They got that one just now, though. Another great ball by Sterling.

Hoffenheim plays with suicidal tactics. You'd have thought Liverpool taught Nagelsmann something last year, but guess not.

Thanks to someone on Reddit. Here’s the odds. Liverpool nailed on for BVB or Madrid. And no, I don’t believe it’s solely down to these probabilities.

City vs. Athletico could be kind of tasty, but I would fancy City to put in at least 3 over 180 minutes. I don’t think I could say the same for Athletico. There best bet would be proving me stupid and sneaking a 2-1 away result and losing 1-0 at home.

I'm figuring Nagelsmann knows his team is 18 levels below City and the only way to get a .01% chance of beating them is balls to the wall suicide footy. So that's what he did.

So the 2 teams Spurs can’t play are Barca and Man City. The 2 teams I wouldn’t want to play. Cool, bring it.

See you February, Midas Mulligan Midas Mulligan
Man City with an easy tie. Tottenham v Dortmund should be a great tie, and I think Ajax may surprise vs. Real.
