UEFA Champions League 18/19

Liverpool haven’t really been good all year except for a couple of spurts here and there.

I don’t know what the hell is going on. I don’t care for all of these conservative tactics.

If I had to guess, maybe Jurgen is waiting to unleash the press later in the season when he feels like the players can stay strong the remainder.

Mainly, Firmino has been pretty shit. He’s looked worn out most every game.

Also, I don’t get all of these Liverpool fans that think Robertson and Trent are transformational players. Robertson is decent for me, but Trent has been absolutely horrific.

Eh. Like I said, I don’t know what the hell is going on. But I’m annoyed and bored with how the team is playing right now.

That burned my ass so bad lol. Whatever. Juve should've won 3-1 at least but didn't. They got complacent and went defensive. Should have kept the pressure on. Ronaldo goal was ridiculous though.

That Ronaldo goal was aweseome. It reminded me of (coincidentally) the Rooney to Van Persie goal.

Don’t sell that play short.... it was obviously the gentle layoff to Rooney that made it all possible, any harder and Rooney would’ve then sent his pass right to the GK.

So Liverpool would need to beat Napoli by 3 in order to advance. Or beat Napoli with any result and hope PSG loses.

Even though Liverpool has a packed schedule, they should find a way to win this. Thinking 2-0 or 3-1. I'd be pretty shocked if Napoli won. No knock against Napoli, but that's a tough ask. In a must win game at home, LFC should win. The PSG game is a tougher call actually. They certainly can lose that game. Will be interesting.

I guess a 2 goal win would work as well since they’d be tied on GD but ahead on matchup. If that’s the second tie break.

I checked the tie break rules and I’m not sure how a 1-0 win would qualify them.
it would not. they would be tied with napoli head to head, no away goals scored and they would lose on goal differential (5th tie breaker)

  1. Points in head-to-head matches among tied teams;
  2. Goal difference in head-to-head matches among tied teams;
  3. Goals scored in head-to-head matches among tied teams;
  4. Away goals scored in head-to-head matches among tied teams;
  5. If more than two teams are tied, and after applying all head-to-head criteria above, a subset of teams are still tied, all head-to-head criteria above are reapplied exclusively to this subset of teams;
  6. Goal difference in all group matches;
  7. Goals scored in all group matches;
  8. Away goals scored in all group matches;
  9. Wins in all group matches;
  10. Away wins in all group matches;
  11. Disciplinary points (red card = 3 points, yellow card = 1 point, expulsion for two yellow cards in one match = 3 points);
  12. UEFA club coefficient.

Nice work finding the tiebreakers.

Liverpool would advance if it wins 1-0. That's because a one-goal win both improves Liverpool's goal differential by 1 and decreases Napoli's by 1, which makes up the 2 goal difference and leaves it tied. Since Liverpool has scored more goals, it would win on the 7th tiebreaker.
