UEFA Champions League 18/19

Napoli sucks in England but if they can manage to score 1 goal Liverpool would need 3. I still remember them being up 1-0 against Chelsea. Frank Lampard gets subbed in and Chelsea hammers in 3 goals to knock Napoli out.

ETA: Napoli was up 4-1 on aggregate and Lampard scored a penalty DEEP into injury to take it to extra time.

Does Napoli start Milik against Liverpool or go with Insigne and Mertens up top. If I remember right, first game Milik started and Mertens came in. That decision may ultimately impact the game most for Ancelotti.

Milik hasnt been very good this season i think they need to start their best 11... bring Milik in as a reinforcement if things are not going well.

as long as they fuck it up when it comes to liverpool, i'm all for it

Probably will fuck it up for Napoli. That being said, Neymar is hurting. Red Star is a tough out if Neymar happens to miss the game. PSG could lose. That would means Napoli is through even if LFC wins.

Who at TNT is making the decision to put Liverpool v Napoli on Univision / Unimas and Galatasaray v Porto on english-language TNT? Possibly people at a network which has zero experience with soccer rights?

...really?
Well, my question still stands. I imagine there are a lot more english-speaking Liverpool fans in the US than spanish-speaking ones, and far fewer english-speaking Porto or Galatasaray fans than either of the above.
I don't have specific knowledge of this situation, but that's how it almost always works.
UEFA owns the rights. They sell them, like most sporting rights owners, to whoever pays the most. Sometimes Univision or Telemundo share US rights with an English language network, sometimes they don't, and presumably they pay extra for the exclusivity.

Put it this way: any situation where you wonder why a distributor/network/platform made an idiotic decision to drop or not carry some popular content [networks make decisions to drop poor performing content all the time], you are almost always looking at the wrong culprit. People are blaming Netflix for canceling Daredevil, Luke Cage, Jessica Jones, etc. Netflix had nothing to do with it. It's all Disney's decision.

They sold TNT the rights to the Champions League, but TNT still gets the decision for which game to put on TV and which to stream.

So the Liverpool game is on TNT in English but only streaming and not the cable/satellite version of TNT? The post I responded to made it seem it was not on TNT at all, and only a Spanish version was available, and that TNT made the decision to broadcast it on a network it does not own, which never seemed logical. That's a very different issue.

The Liverpool game is on Univision, because they have US rights in Spanish. TNT is showing Barcelona-Tottenham. Any game not on TNT is available at cost via their streaming platform.

But Liverpool didn't decide to put it on Univision as OP said. They decided to charge for streaming. That's not a hard decision to explain or justify, even if we don't like it, and has nothing to do with not knowing the soccer market.

Feel bad for Napoli, as I'd rather they went through than PSG. But they should have lost about 6-1 today. Mane was missing sitters left and right.

Oh...and Alisson Becker is the best goalkeeper in the world. Absolute beast.

TNT decided to stream it. I think what he's questioning is whether it would have gotten a better rating to show the Liverpool-Napoli game on TV over Barcelona-Tottenham. Which game would have moved the needle more in America? I probably would guess the Liverpool game, but they went the other way.

Oh I see the original post now.

TNT did not choose to put the game on Univision, they just chose not to put it on TNT. My point above remains, which is that the Liverpool game probably is a better fit for TNT than Barca. But yes, TNT and Univision are mutually exclusive, though my guess is Univision wouldn't televise the same game as TNT. Think of it as TNT has first pick, Univision gets second pick.

that last one was... just atrocious by Mane LOL
I don't know which was worse. Good case for the one before when he missed by 2 yards from 4 yards out.

ETA: Also, the wild sequence in the box when Ospina batted one from Salah away from an open goal should have been a red on Albiol I think. He gets a good shove in on Mo when Ospina is galavanting around the box.
