I’d recommend checking the CVS site regularly throughout the day. I was having the same issue with my parents as well. Then one day I clicked in and was able to get my mom, dad and aunt all scheduled. It was at CVS’ all over the Bay Area, but at least they got it! They also have you schedule the second dose when you schedule the first which is great. I know some people that are struggling to schedule their second dose after getting the first at a mass vaccination site.
I've gotten about a dozen people scheduled. The trick is to keep searching constantly re-entering the zip code. They pop up very quickly and are gone quickly.

I've also found that Walgreens opens up the next available day at midnight. So you might get lucky with them if you log on exactly at midnight.

This whole situation is about to bust open. Vaccine production is way up, and deliveries by the end of March could be several times higher than so far. Some of this is already happening.

Biden has announced that there will be enough supply to vaccinate all adults by end of May.

Summer is looking like one big party!

The question will be, at what point do we stop public health measures? How long after all adults can get vaccinated? If in July people just aren't getting vaccinated anymore, but they can if they want to, is everything fully open? Do we no longer care if you can get vaccinated but choose not to? Or at that point the vaccines have dropped hospitalizations and deaths to such a small number it's no longer practical to keep all the measures in place?

Well, some states are already stopping the public health measures.

I think most states will let the status of the virus dictate what happens with opening up. If the vaccine continues to do its job, it should become somewhat self evident that things are safe enough to start a return to normal. Different states will do this at different times. My guess is that NY will be among the last to open up fully as Cuomo has been conservative in making those moves.

The more interesting question is one that you brought up. What happens if there are enough people refusing the vaccine that the virus continues to spread in that population. My take is - fuck those people. We aren't staying closed and screwing up the economy and our kids' education due to a bunch of conspiracy theorists.

cuomo WAS conservative about making his moves, but has become more lenient after biden took office and even more now, to distract from his scandals. CT is planning to essentially open up 100% in a couple weeks. I thought CT was in some kind of covid coalition with NY/NJ, but i guess not. I think NY will continue to reopen on a steady pace into the summer.

i agree. fuck those people.

Getting my first shot, finally, on Monday through CVS (in Mass) so by end of the month I'll be fully vaccinated! It's not over yet, but it is kind of exciting to see the light at the end of this. Many in my family already received or are scheduled to receive both doses by Easter, which is one of the bigger holidays in my family due to fewer branches having big gatherings to split between in-laws. So this is exciting we've already decided that we will have a gathering, albeit still outside mostly.
Ended up getting it yesterday. My appointment for Monday was cancelled due to Pfizer supply issue, but I was able to snag a Moderna dose!
I feel slightly hungoverish today, but not all that bad so far. Only minor shoulder pain under pressure. I've heard side effects can peak 24-36 hours after, so I'm coming up to that period soon, wish me luck!

Agreed. Once the vaccine is fully available, if you're not willing to get the vaccine and get sick, that's on you. I think once the vaccine is fully available and deaths/hospitalizations go down precipitously, the pandemic is over for the vast majority of us unless and until we have to get a booster.

Once it gets down to levels that we see on a regular flu basis, that's when I think I'd draw the line. In my community i've already started seeing people fully vaccinated start getting together more, and have even begun talks with some friends on hanging out soon. I'm sure it'll be the same elsewhere as well

What will the venn diagram of people that won't wear masks and won't get the vaccines look like?

Had a state facility appointment this morning. Last night my wife and our neighbor who we are helping received reminder emails and I did not. When I checked in, I was told the system had apparently cancelled my appointment but they reset it without controversy. It only delayed me maybe 3-4 minutes and like most others I have heard from, the time from walking up to needle in arm was less than 30 minutes.

I had my second shot today. Went in with my brother, his appt was 8:45 mine was 10:15. I went up to the guy, he said "earliest you can come is 9:15". I said I went with my brother and we wanted to time it better, to which he said "if he is approved in, you can go with him." We were out 9:15, was awesome

I noticed the card that has my second appointment date (Easter Sunday: He is RIsen, I am Vaccinated) does not specify a time. They told us to come the same time but ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ . I was wondering how early you could push things. I've had one person claim they arrived in the morning for an afternoon appointment and were taken. We were roughly 30 minutes early.

You will get a confirmation email either later today or tomorrow, has the same time as your first appt

PSA: if you didn't already know, Cuomo announced over the weekend that pharmacies can now provide vaccines for the same people who are eligible at state run sites. This should dramatically increase your chances of getting a vaccine appointment. Of course, if you are still under 60 and do not have any comorbidities, then you are still ineligible and will probably have to wait until may 1st.

I previously had an appointment for the end of april at javitz, but have successfully booked an earlier appointment for this week. The increased availability should help a lot of people out! Good luck and stay safe everyone.

Another friend of mine did the exact same thing this morning. This is great news. Good for you.

Make sure you cancel the Javitz appointment for those of us who are not eligible at pharmacies.
