Poku Ready To Leave?

It's time to trade him. I don't really see what his role in Vieira's setup would be, and his value is only going to decline if he's sitting on the bench/in a suite for half the season. I love the guy, but if he's not playing we should maximise our returns. This is a business.
my god, if they trade him, and don't win the league (or at least make a deeeeep run at it), vieira's head is going to get lopped off (at least in the supporters group forums - general fans will be like, meh). If we are going to lose, at least give the fans what they want. and they clearly want poku.

I will say this much. I am not buying a jersey with poku on it as long as his role is up in the air. I like villa, but everyone wear's his kit. I thought poku was going to be my first ever jersey purchase, but now i don't know what to do, there really no one else i like enough to want to buy and I don't want a blank/custom.

Mix laughed when the question was asked about Poku in the press conference. I think it is not a big deal to the players. its a long season, everyone knows what they need to do. Poku didnt look like his usual self in preseason.

Utterly hilarious this post and the people liking it when you see the venom that many of the same posters had last year about the Poku situation and the thought of trading him...

Here is the thing though. He fit perfectly last season in Kreis's many systems, whereas with things currently stand with our formation it is a little like putting a square peg in a round hole. Our midfield is loaded. We can address some team needs by selling him. I think he definitely has a place in this team, but if selling him means we get enough GAM to sign a player like Bedoya or Nasri or Zlatan (don't think that one is happening), than I am all for it.

This is not the NFL, NHL, MLB, NBA. You just don't trade players off in this sport for value, a #1 pick in the Superdraft. We need Poku on this club. Even if he is not currently in the starting lineup, we will need players through the long season and unforeseen injuries. If you would not want a Poku to see the pitch in those scenarios, I'm not sure what other type of player you would want to see.

Sometimes Zlatan does not start, oh wait who comes in, let's go with Cavani.

I don't believe Poku will be going anywhere, unless he wants to leave. Would be sad if he left otherwise.

Not only did Mix laugh but so did PV but I think it was more about the way the question was asked. So direct and to the point and the guy even added "are you going to trade him...or something?" lol

We have had two coaches, with very different coaching styles and background that both really really like Tmac. Maybe Tmac is just a good player, always improving and working hard?
And we've had two coaches not play Poku much.

I really believe Poku is one of those guys that doesn't show well in practice but is a gamer. It's just a matter of whether or not the coach feels like gambling on him that day but really, I thought Poku did enough last season to warrant more looks this season.

The guy is just so physically dominant. Few players like him in the league, imo.

It's still early, though, maybe Poku will get some chances.

I agree. Not sure if you were in these boards last year but after Poku's second appearance last year I stated he was one of our best players, and our best midfielder. The guy is talented. I also explained something in other posts as to why Poku wasn't getting the playing time and sometimes its just not up to the coaches. Long story short but I have stated last year, and I will state it again now, and am even more convinced now since this is the second coach in two years doing the same thing. There is more to this Poku story. It isn't about fitness, it isn't about skill. He is clearly one of our better midfielders and players.

Yeah, what an un-reporter like way to ask that question, finishing with "or something". I thought that was so odd. Sounds like the way my 15 year old brother would ask that question.

Yea I was shaking my head as soon as he finished that question.

Is Thomas McNamara the new, but more liked Ned Grabavoy? The coach loves him but he's taking the spot from Cult Hero Superstar Kwadwo Poku.

TMac will never be a Grabavoy, and I'd say he's got his own cult following as it is. I was sure AJ would be our Grabavoy this year, but they fixed that real quick. I can honestly say I don't see a player on our roster now who has the power to piss off every supporter when he gets selected.

Well Saunders, but that's mainly limited to active users of this site #Lurch
