I realize that currently not training doesn't mean cut, but if Mena is not kept, then that's a massive black eye to either Kreis or Reyna (or whomever made the call to sign him). I really felt Mena had the natural ability to make it in MLS, but he was was never in sync with the other musical chair defenders this year - a full preseason would help him immensely especially with the language issues. However if he is not deemed worth keeping, I have to wonder if they blew it by letting Tefu go to Swedish club BH Hacken. Anyway I don't want to lament the rejection of Tefu.... just trying to figure out the possible gaffe with Mena if the tea leaves are speaking......

I was honestly expecting more of an impact from Iraola than any of our mid-season acquisitions, Pirlo and I❤️Lamp included. In part because he was filling a position of greater need. To say I've been disappointed is putting it mildly. I do have hope that next year will be better once he's had an off season to rest and a pre-season to train with the team.

If those guys not practicing are really gone and not just resting injuries or have personal leave or soemthing, I will be ok with that. I'd like to see what Mena could do, but if they are getting rid of Kwame and Mena and Facey, that means they know they will be bringing in better talent that. That is very exciting, hopefully 2 new CBs. To me, that will make the biggest impact on the team, new CBs. I don't believe we have room for a dedicated CDM, so the back line becomes way more important.

Agreed - If we can sign CBs that are good enough to let us run without a CDM, then we are a bit closer to answering the question of how to play Villa/Pirlo/Lamp/Mix/Poku at the same time. Definitely our biggest need right now.

2016 MLS preseason
Looks like December 7th will be a key date in terms of seeing who may leave because their contract is up. In trying to figure out how the roster may change, that is the piece of missing information as best I can tell.

I think it would be hugely disappointing if they let Mena go. His performance in the last few games was one of the few highlights for me and it is not like we have tons of depth there (though perhaps they'll remedy that). Hopefully it is just a case of him having gone back to Colombia for a bit of the offseason or something like that.

For 800k, we'd have to get rid of Mix, unfortunately. I'm not sure how much having a USMNT player on the roster helps or hurts this team, but that's just about the only way they could get him.

I just posted about Ozzie in the "Players Wanted" thread and said the same. I wouldn't trade Mix for him straight up, maybe Ozzie and Roldan for Mix? That seems like asking way to much though.
