Werder is the ones saying he's staying in the U.S. so whether it's posturing or not...who knows.

It's weird though. I'd like to see him be a part of MLS but part of me would like to see an American succeed in a powerhouse league (if they don't get relegated).

What if we swoop in with the swerve for De Jong?

I'm all for De Jong...dude's a tank. He makes AJ look like a teletubbie.

Looks like LA is tidying up their defense though...If they sign him and Ashley Cole (or Van Damme) that's a game changer for them and a pretty sick lineup.

Better for Morris to stay here, I think. I doubt he was going to get going right away with their first team, and he can develop skills and professionalism just fine as a starter in Seattle. If in 2-3 years, he's progressed, he can still move to Europe. It's a safer, more certain path than going to Europe. Yes, maybe he gets tons of playing time in the Bundesliga and blows up, but it's just as likely, if not more, that he ends up playing for their reserve team or getting loaned out.

I am happier with Matarrita than Cole, but De Jong would be terrific. Opposing teams would need to hide their women and children.

He'd be revered in Seattle, especially with Clint thinking about hanging them up. Werner is a bit of a mess at striker/forward right now, so he may get good minutes...but I have to agree that he'd probably be loaned out at one point or another. He'd have much more stability playing here. Plus it will be easier with national team training.

fight for your spot in Germany or be treated like royalty immediately in the US?
He's going to be a cult hero in Seattle from Day 1..... and playing in front of 43k is something that not all teams in Europe can boast.

That said, I wish he'd fight for and win his spot in Germany, but I can't look down on his decision - plus his agent played a masterful game to get him additional whatevers in his MLS contract.

RULES?!?! We dun need no steenkin' rules!

Where does Jordan Morris fit? He's not going to start over Dempsey or Oba

I think Dempsey plays CAM behind oba and Morris. Dempsey already tends to drift deep to pick up the back early in the attack and he has the passing skills to make it work.

They also have to fit in Nelson Valdez who is their DP forward. So one of those four will have to sit

I think the Galaxy getting Cole and De John is as valuable as us getting rid of Jeb & Ned.

Really goes to show how important time is in this league. You can't buy success. It needs to be built from within and scouting is incredibly important. Bringing in cheap players (Poku) and letting them develop into top talents in the league will help tremendously. Can't depend on foreign players turning over every 3 years when they retire.

Lot of transfer rumors with Valdez, but even if he stays it will probably be good to just easy Morris. Larin was a little of a enigma in that regard.

How much can we sell Poku for in 2-3 years (I hope we can keep him here longer though)? Who gets the money: MLS or NYCFC or what's the split? Where does the money go: TAM, GAM, secret Abu Dhabi holdings?
