Came here to taunt you talking shit about ATL not having a defense. Never played a match and better than us back there already.

I see you've already come around. Bocanegra is killing it. We got the wrong old nat.

ETA: shit, they may be better than us everywhere, come to think of it. Where exactly are we better, other than striker? It ain't manager, gm, taking their reject keeper, any winger position, and we don't have any true CMs we play anyway. Yep. As of right now, they are better than us across the entirety of the club other than David Villa.

And I thought Arthur only cared about plywood by the sq ft. Dude just likes to run good businesses. Clowning CFG AND the notion that it takes some secret fucking experiential knowledge to do this shit. It takes smarts, money and a plan.

Most fans would have lost their shit if we spent our DP slots in year one on unknown South Americans and Tim Howard. That's what ATL is doing. I'm not saying you're wrong, but this team needed to sign the old players to generate the fan base and revenue.

The Greg Garza move hurts. Mata to LW and Garza to LB is a homerun. Too bad it won't haooen

You are probably right. What kills me is that if I'm Reyna, I'm out front saying "we tried to make this happen and here's why it didn't". Or don't give an explanation. Just confirm that you went for it and lost. Otherwise, we are all sitting around here like now, wondering why the hell we aren't the team making this move.

I think realistically they think Matarrita stays one year and a Garza loan wasn't the right move. They must think they maximize his value at LB.

Wait until Gio signs a homegrown contract before jumping to conclusions.
I appreciate your attempts at humor. But if we signed a GM based on his son playing 8 years later, fuck me, I may as well been a cosmos fan if I were going to live in what will be fantasy world.

Well, he's definitely not a LW, but I just don't know why we are only mentioned in the shit deals, not any of the good ones. I want to be interesting, damnit.

It's probably 10% why we signed Reyna. It'd put 50% as he's a former Man City player, 20% former USMNT player, and 20% CFG thought he'd be a good GM.

I would have hoped and expected us to hire a GM based on CFG's belief that he'd 99% be an outstanding GM and everything else falls into the final 1%.

I don't know Bocanegra's background beyond his playing career.

Claudio certainly has his ties to Man City, but he also ran one of the US development squads for quite a while. That's a big job. In some countries, that would be a bigger job than being technical director for a club. I wouldn't say we picked the wrong guy. Claudio was absolutely qualified for this job.

It seems to be that Jason wasn't.

I will defer to others with greater expertise like Tom in Fairfield CT but isn't major hip surgery a concern going forward. Price may not justify the risk. On the other hand a discount may scream for the risk.

Mata in limbo may have also factored into consideration as mentioned.

I hope that PV was accurate that folks are lining up to play and the team we ultimately trot out after our flurry of upcoming moves ultimately makes sense.

I was mostly kidding about getting the wrong GM, as it's too early to be definitive. But Boca has been killing it, no doubt. Of course, he sits in a place where he is fully accountable for good and bad. Reyna always has deniability, but in return, he can never take full credit either.

You make good points, but I think the fact that it's a loan deal mitigates these concerns. I'm betting there is essentially no fee, and they are just picking up all or most of his salary.

He had hip labral surgery, as far as I can find out, last September. Labral surgery is not a huge deal, but the issue in Garza's case is that his condition is part of a sports hernia (same injury that has kept connor bryant out for the past two years). Hip injuries are commonly associated with sports hernias, maybe from the altered biomechanics that either cause the sports hernia or result from the sports hernia. (sports hernias are a problem with the abdominal and groind muscles where they attach to the pubis bone).

So if it was just a hip labrum, I wouldn't be worried as much, but add in the sports hernia, and I'd be more concerned.

I would agree with all of that Midas Mulligan
It's truly Christmas!
