YESSSSSSSSSSSSSSSS

What player do they have that we would want? This has got to be a friendly to help pay for a player(s). Why else travel that distance for a 1-off game? It's not like we need experience this year preparing for the CCL.

From the article itself.

Top scorer Cristian Guanca is considered the team’s dangerman after the 23-year old Argentine forward netted 21 goals in 43 games last season.

T
Emelec is a top team in Ecuador.

Barcelona SC is the most followed club, maybe we should recruit a player from here, a popular player and attain more fans from this large immigrant group

I guess we might be premiere our new jersey......maybe away? (their jersey is Blue)

Emelec is celebrating the reconstrution of their home grounds and to mark the special event invited NYCFC..... Hope NYCFC spoils the party but that will be a tall order.... NYCFC and Emelec will both be in preseason form.... But the advantage will be with emelec as they will have summer weather months going into this game with them in full practice and getting into match fitness with their league starting up in Feb and the more important Copa Libertadores starting also in Feb so emelec would have been working out weeks prior to this game... I know nycfc starts up again in January with practice and work outs but will probably be in full vacation mode still....Hoping the game can be a close one and if we can draw or spoil their night even better... I think most Templados are from barcelona Sporting Club so i am sure they are hoping for a proper beat down of emelec... some NY based emelec fans are pro long island cosmos and are sounding off they want to beat down NYCFC.... Poor bastards... they still believe NYCFC and MLS have some thing to do with their current state of affairs..

maybe the forward they mentioned in article? I know one of their established players went to Cruz Azul in liga MX.

"We are looking forward to our friendly against C.S. Emelec which will be our first test of the 2017 season."

So we know that there will be no friendlies before this game...

not necessarily, we can still play a scrimmage vs a local college ( in florida i assume) or another team ( like in 2015 when we played jacksonville armada in those 20 minute 4 quarter games).

could work....from my interactions with Ecuadorian or Ecuadorian American fans that are nycfc fans are all Barcelona SC fans as well.

NYCFCfan The biggest question I have this offseason is who the club used the MLS roster rule buyout contract clause on, if they did at all...

If anyone ever runs into Claudio Reyna, please ask him this.

If I ever get the chance to speak to him again I will, though with that said he RARELY does interviews.

Martin DeMechellis was let go. Assuming he was available on Sub DP wages, I would be a fan of giving it a shot.

I know that we struggle with speed and athleticism in the middle of the park. Some of that is negated by the size of our pitch at Yankee Stadium. That being said, I would rather spend $300,000 on him than take a flyer on bringing back Fede Bravo.

Eh. Hard pass. He's similar to (different positions) Bravo except older and slower. We don't need to replace old and slow with old and slow, like Hernandez for Demichelis.

I agree on the basis of age and speed. My thought is that if he can do a job better than another player on similar wages, I don't care about the age. He's not a big enough player to warrant a position on this team on name only. But if he can do Iraola's job better than someone else that is available, I am in.
