Okay, since nobody else has done this, here goes an attempt to figure out when our home games might be played.

Here are the possible windows for when we could play at home, based on the Yankees schedule and assuming a 48-hour turnaround time. It also assumes Opening Day on March 5 and Decision Sunday on Oct 22.

Sun, Mar 5 - Fri, Apr 7 (this covers 5 weekends, plus that last Friday night; includes FIFA international dates Mar 20-28)
Fri, Apr 21 - Tue, April 25
Fri, May 5 - Tue, May 9
Tue, May 17 - Sat, May 20
Wed, May 31 - Sun, Jun 4
Tue, Jun 13 - Sun, Jun 18
Tue, Jun 27 - Sat, Jul 1
Tue, Jul 11 - Sun, Jul 23 (this covers 2 weekends; includes CONCACAF Gold Cup, Jul 7-26)
Fri, Aug 4 - Wed, Aug 9
Thu, Aug 17 - Wed, Aug 23
Tue, Sep 5 - Tue, Sep 12
Fri, Sep 22 - Sun, Sep 24
Tue, Oct 3 - Sun, Oct 22 (subject to Yankee playoff requirements; in the past our October games have been limited to Decision Sunday only; includes FIFA international dates Oct 2-10)

This covers 20 weekends. One weekend is on a FIFA international date, when the league usually runs an abbreviated schedule. Two weekends are during the Gold Cup, when there might be fewer games. Two weekends are during MLB playoffs, when we traditionally haven't played at home (one of which is a FIFA match weekend).

Overall, I think that leads to 17 weekends when there might reasonably be home games, 4 of which are in March and early April. There are also 7 good candidates for midweek games (Wednesday or Thursday) outside the early season.

Updating the above.

Sun, Mar 5 - Fri, Apr 7 (5 weekends, plus that last Friday night; includes FIFA international dates Mar 20-28)
- Sunday, March 12, 2pm: DC United
Fri, Apr 21 - Tue, April 25
Fri, May 5 - Tue, May 9
Tue, May 17 - Sat, May 20
Wed, May 31 - Sun, Jun 4
Tue, Jun 13 - Sun, Jun 18
Tue, Jun 27 - Sat, Jul 1
Tue, Jul 11 - Sun, Jul 23 (this covers 2 weekends; includes CONCACAF Gold Cup, Jul 7-26)

Last year the league announced on January 3 that the full schedule would be revealed January 7.

This year we've reached January 5 with no pre-announcement. As I remember, on Jan 7 last year the league said in the morning that it would drop at x o'clock, then pushed it back, then some more, and then some more again. It got ridiculous. MLS teams on twitter even trolled us with links to Rick Astley and such.

This year, when they announced the first games on December some brilliant, helpful forum member noted the following:

When MLS posted the schedule teaser this morning it said the full schedule would be revealed before the Super Draft on January 13. It has now been stealth edited to say it will be revealed "next month." I'm hoping this was done in excessive caution just in case and they still announce the first 2 weeks.

Combining these 2 facts I put the odds of getting the schedule this week or next at slightly below 50-50.
Like that means anything but that's where I put them anyway.
I mean they have to go somewhere and I try to keep a clean desk.

...

Also, I could be wrong, but I don't think it is possible to do a round robin, plus 3, with 11 teams, which means at least some teams will end up with an extra out of conference match.

Let me explain. It is reasonable to assume that the schedule will involve one game against each out of conference opponent. This year that would be 11 games leaving 23 against opponents in conference. That suggests 2 games against each of the other teams in your conference, which is 20 games, and an extra game against 3 of those teams.

Here's the issue. I don't think there is a way to have each of the teams in a conference play a third game against only 3 teams and work it out consistently across all 11 teams. I've tried, and I can't get it to work. Please see if you can, but I have my doubts. I think it is because there is an odd number of teams in the conference. My guess is that they can and will deal with this by having Minnesota and Atlanta play twice, which means each of them would also have only 2 extra games against a conference foe. I think that works, although I haven't tried to do it.

Updating the above. The league press release announcing the home openers included the following paragraph.

During the 2017 MLS regular season, each club will play 34 games, including 17 home games and 17 away games. Teams will face each of their 10 conference opponents twice during the season with one game at home and one game away. Clubs also will compete in select additional games against different conference opponents three times, and they will face each non-conference opponent once.

So, perhaps there really is a way to set up the schedule like this. More likely, I think, is that they are going to do a simple quick fix - like having Atlanta and Minnesota play twice - in order to have the rest of the league fit the arrangement they described.

Or they can decrease the number of clubs we would play 3x's. Last year played 6 clubs 3x's. It would have to be 3 clubs 3x's for 2017

Read again, that's not the issue. The issue is you can't make an odd number of teams (11) play an odd number of games (3) against each other, it just doesn't work out.
