2018 Schedule

So the consensus is that this schedule has fewer pitfalls than last year and may be a little more favorable for us to finish hot ending the season? Glad we don't have so many home games early in the season. 13-15 points by the end of April seems doable barring injuries.

Well they're allowed to use them to fly to games. I don't think Arthur Blank is flying commercial.

Arthur Blank can't put 18 of his soccer players on his plane and fly them to their match versus Orlando

No relocated matches in the club’s first two seasons and then two last year, as we all know. Figured I’d take a look at potential conflicts in the upcoming season. From what I can tell, here are the matches at risk of getting moved due to the Yankees rescheduling a rainout on an off-day falling within 72 hours of scheduled kickoff.

Matches with an *off-day* on both sides:
June 9 v. Atlanta: Yankees at TOR prior to the *7th* and NYM after, at NYM prior to the *11th* and home after.
Aug 22 v. Red Bulls: Yankees at home prior to the *20th* and MIA after, at MIA prior to the *23rd* and BAL after.

Matches with one off-day:
May 19 v. Colorado: Yankees at DC prior to the *17th* and KC after.
**The 17th is not a mutual off day for remaining home opponents BOS and OAK (5/6 update)
June 2 v. Orlando: Yankees at BAL prior to the *4th* and TOR after.
**Yankees at DET on June 4 for rescheduled doubleheader. (4/15 update)

So to recap, expect NYCFC Wanderers III if the Yankees reschedule a game for:
May 17, June 4, June 7, June 11, Aug 20, Aug 23.

June 11 and Aug 20 are high-risk dates since the Yankees will already be in town. And no, CitiField is not available on any of the above four match days.

The Yankees generally include the rescheduled date when announcing a rainout. Otherwise, the team seems to compile the information here.

Potential conflict with Yankees playoff run:
Oct 28 v. Philly: World Series scheduled for the 23rd through the 31st. Last season’s venue switch to CitiField was announced 10 days prior to the match. So if the Yankees are still in the playoffs as of the 18th or so -- ALCS -- expect this match to be moved.

No conflicts for the rest of the matches, with either a benign off-day or none within 72 hours:
March 11 v. LA Galaxy: --
March 17 v. Orlando: --
April 11 v. Salt Lake: Yankees will have played only TB and BAL at home by this point. The *9th* is not a mutual off-day for either team.
April 29 v. Dallas --
June 24 v. Toronto: --
July 8 v. Red Bulls: Yankees at home prior to the *5th* and TOR after. Makeup day game would still provide 72-hour turnaround.
July 11 v. Montreal: --
July 14 v. Columbus: The *16th* is part of the MLB All-Star Break.
Aug 4 v. Vancouver: --
Sept 5 v. New England: Yankees on West Coast trip, at OAK prior to the *6th* and SEA after.
Sept 8 v. DC: Yankees on West Coast trip, at OAK prior to the *6th* and SEA after.
Sept 26 v. Chicago: --

Does anyone else use the feature where you sync the schedule to your computer, phone, etc? As I remember, 2-3 years ago the version synced to my phone gave me a reminder 1 hour before. Last year it switched to 24 hours. This year I'm getting notices both 48 hours and 1 hour before game time.
The thing is, I can't figure out how to adjust these settings. The way I would do so for any regular event that I control on my calendar doesn't work. I certainly can't figure out why I'm getting 2 alerts for one event that previously gave me one. In fact, when I click on any of the game events to get its details, it says "Alert: None." The alerts are definitely coming from my Calendar, and not from either the MLS app or the team app. This is on an iPhone.

It's strange. The notifications seem to be set at the event level for me. But they're still changeable. There are no default notifications on the imported calendar though (Google Calendar on Pixel).

Thanks, Christopher Jee Christopher Jee.
As an example, here's a screenshot of yesterday's game, which gave me both the 48 hour and 1 hour warning. I just manually set the alert for Sunday to 24 hours and I'll see what happens. Before changing it, it had no alert just like the one shown here.

Settings > Calendar > Default Alert Times > Events?

Settings > Calendar > Default Alert Times > Events?
Good tip. I hadn't checked there, but no. All default alert times are set to "None."

I think I'll see what happens with the Sunday game now that I've manually set a 24 hour alert. Then depending on how that goes, I might delete the entire calendar and then re-sync to see if it clears it..

Stumbled upon this post just now. We're at 16 points with 3 games left in April. Way ahead of even an optimistic pre-season take.

Just noticed last night that we’ve played a majority of West teams and we’ll have played 9 by the halfway point with only 3(?) over the final half. While that means we’re racking up points against an inferior conference, we’re also getting most of our potential cross country travel out of the way now while the team is fresh (I realize some games are YS, but whatever). This just means that the end of the year will be highly important to lock down points against conference opponents- and hopefully were making a big enough cushion to disillusion them.

I've noticed this too. By the end of this month we will have played 6 of an eventual 11 West Conference games (55%) having played barely 1/4 of the overall schedule.
By the end of May, the remaining Western travel will consist of (1) Seattle and (2) Minnesota, which straddles the Mississippi.

also means we are causing the western conference to the the inferior conference by putting a hurting on them. I know they are weaker on paper, but the game isn't played on paper. Its a good thing we are getting the points while the gettings good, cause things have a way to reverting to the mean.

Also maybe this spurs the western conference to make a splash in the transfer window so as to edge out their competition in a weaker conference and actually makes it more difficult for the remaining eastern conference teams. Also good reason to get them out of the way before they strengthen.

Interestingly, both of those trips come after a mid-week game with only two days' rest. Rough going.

In July, we play down in Orlando on a Thursday night. Then, we fly all day to Seattle to play on Sunday night.
