I wonder if the 30 minute show is in part to explain to fans some changes in how the schedule works - i.e. moving from 34 games or having two teams play each other 4 times.
Yea I'm guessing that, plus a nice segment on all the Heineken Rivalry weeks, decision day, opening day and all that. Potentially cover how they are scheduling around the world cup. I doubt the imbalance is something they'll cover, this is more about delivering video views to highlight to sponsors.I was thinking they may tease some of the bigger games and show a national tv schedule before dumping the full schedule at 2
Very excited about building the new spreadsheet.

I think these will definitely happen. I only wonder about changes to format since they haven't done a release like this before, and we know that the format has to change in some way.
I Evernote Disney.Must be kindred spirits because I spreadsheet the season just like I spreadsheet my Disney trips!
is there a specific change you are expecting?
Mostly yes. In some cases they can -- at least in theory -- use a double game week for one or more team to allow every team to play at least once.Well with the odd number of teams now someone will be off every week, right?

I think MLS has simply leaped onto the video fluff train. Contrast the presentation of the NYCFC/Orlando expansion draft in 2014 with the LAFC expansion draft in 2017. The former was a draft that actually meant something: the teams were drafting players who would constitute the bulk of their roster. And it was presented with static cameras mounted in a pair of windowless conference rooms watching mostly a bunch of no-names wearing short sleeve knit shirts. The LAFC draft was borderline irrelevant to who will be on their roster. Many fewer players were chosen and most of those just to be bargaining chips. There were multiple hosts, guest pick announcers, celebrities, an outdoor live festival and an entire panel back in a studio. So while there might be some surprises in the schedule this year, I don't think that's connected to the big online show embellishment.I think these will definitely happen. Well, a few things have to change since there are now an odd number of teams. This creates problems that the league has to figure out. Some possibilities have been knocked around in this thread and others, but it's hard to know exactly what their solutions will be. Suffice to say that there is a good possibility there will be some necessary changes that will seem weird and confusing to the casual fan.
Kind of feel bad for the MLS Digital people doing the show. My office building closed at 12 PM. I’m working remotely from home. They’ll be stuck at the 420 5th Ave offices (I think that’s where MLS Digital studio is, it’s at least where the league office is located) until the end of the day.
I came into the office early before it was clear just how bad this would be in the city. I am kind of not in a hurry to get out of here now. It's already about as bad as it can get.Kind of feel bad for the MLS Digital people doing the show. My office building closed at 12 PM. I’m working remotely from home.
