So Mark Booth DM'd me on Twitter today to offer a belated thanks. It would be nice to get a frickin thank you for once.
wonder if well have a coach by then.
So NYCFC is facing a team from pot 2 first. Is Leon the toughest team in Pot 2?
Weren’t we supposed to sign and trade some people in the last few days?
I’m assuming nothing will happen until January window. I believe even tho we have an open window we can’t sign players from leagues that are currently closed?we signed AWAY scally.. does that count?
Am I correct in saying that though NYCFC can open camp on January 11, 15 days from now, the team has not announced either when or where it will in fact have camp.
Oh, and no coach of course.
Thanks. So they have commited to January 11. And yet no coach. And as you noted a game (friendly but still) in less than 3 weeks. We're opening camp in Orlando, with our first preseason match less than three weeks away on Jan. 15. From a post last month on the club's participation in the 2020 Florida Cup:
New York City FC today announced that the First Team will open their 2020 preseason in Orlando, Florida in the Florida Cup 2020.
...
Preseason will begin on January 11 and NYCFC will play a pair of Brazilian clubs at Exploria Stadium, home of Orlando City SC, during the Florida Cup.

The CFG coaching crumbs thing has been and will continue to be one of my greatest concerns about this arrangement. Maybe one day in hindsight, if a layover wins us a cup or we get a few years of Pep, I will concede on the upside. But it’s been a disaster thus far.Thanks. So they have commited to January 11. The whole plan to build a stable of coaches in-house, train them and get them ready for first team duties at various levels was a decent idea, but in practice it has not worked out, not even for Man City. The CFG coaching crumbs thing has been and will continue to be one of my greatest concerns about this arrangement. Finished doesn’t tell the full story. When PV left, he blew up a season where we were in a prime position to challenge for hardware. That was a disaster. The next season, the continuing transition to Dome put us in a difficult position and may have cost us a shot at the SS. This season is TBD but the transition is putting our CL chances at risk and undoubtedly will negatively influence our MLS season. Our team has been and is stacked. The management carousel has been and will continue to be to our detriment. We hired an MLS regular and competed for the wooden spoon.
Since then, we’ve hired CFG regulars and finished 4th, 2nd, 7th, 2nd. There are things about it that have not been ideal, but it’s far from a disaster.

For me, if we end up repeating the Vieira and Dome cycle (take time to build a style, blow it up when the team is peaking) then to me it shows that either the ownership is incompetent (in that it's unable to learn from its mistakes) or that it doesn't care (it's fine with making the playoffs and being competitive).Finished doesn’t tell the full story.
