He needs to drink more milk. Recover well, James!
That has him back somewhere between the next to last game at New England, and the first playoff game 3-4 weeks later. It will be good to have him back, but it also be good to avoid so much wear and tear on Alex Ring in the meantime. Also, one has to wonder if this keeps him out of the U-23 camp, which I think is coming in October.

Hot take: Ring isn’t a very good CB. I’d prefer Chanot in the middle of the back three with Ibeagha and Callens flanking him.

Part of what makes James so important is his distribution. Alex is a poor to awful distributor in the build up. He’s not great on the ball and Chanot is. When we’re being pressed, it’s important to have a guy that can make a pass across that first level and deliver the ball to either a wingback or Parks to push forward. I don’t think Alex can do much but change fields when building slowly with no press

Maybe this is a blessing in disguise in regards to Jimmy remaining fresh for the playoffs. We don't have to worry about team chemistry at this point, and he won't participate in U23 camp right before the playoffs. Being young and never played a full season of MLS, this limits him to a 15 match + Playoffs season, so he doesn't hit that wall so many young players do.

You're assuming he comes back in 6 weeks and gets match-fit before the playoffs. That 6-8 weeks is a recovery timetable, you probably have to add at least another couple weeks to get match-fit. I still think this probably ends his season -- let's assume he's ready for soccer activities in 6 weeks, that's still right around Oct. 1. We're still looking at another 2-3 weeks to get match fit, which means he makes his return in the playoffs. Would Dome be willing to put him right into game action at that stage? Maybe, but maybe not.

I would think he'd be practicing with the team those 2 weeks pre-playoffs to get match fit. Considering his talent level and chemistry with teammates, I think it's a safe move to have him back as his first match in the playoffs, especially at home. I wouldn't put starting Jimmy in the playoffs on par with say Mikey Lopez in our midfield.

Plus the guy can still ride the bike and run to keep his legs in shape...

I kind of assume that "out 6-8 weeks" means what it says. At the most optimistic, it would mean he gets a run out against New England and is good to go in Philly. Less optimistic means he returns to full training 1-2 weeks ahead of our first playoff game, and Dome can decide if he wants to start him.

He might be rusty after 6-8 weeks, but he should be in shape. Plus, the whole team is getting at least 2, and maybe 3, weeks off after the regular season.

Need to see some JP Torres now in Alex’s spot. Or Haak.

I definitely think Haak needs to get a go. Torres can come in too but I think Haak is just better. Torres might be a better option at right back than miller, but doubtful Dome would go that route.

Agree on what you said about Ring.

Either way, we need Ring and Chanot out for CLB so they don't get a stupid yellow card and be suspended for NJRB.

Taty absolutely toyed with the USMNT’s starting CB tonight
That’s like saying it was a big deal that Costa Rica’s LB got a red card tonight.

Both players aren’t of a high quality.
