Are we talking about this offseason? Were making incremental moves and other teams are making massive improvements at every level of the organization.
Why are some of you still here? Just go support Atlanta already, jeez.

Training facility? Mediocre
Player purchases? Mediocre
Staffing? Mediocre
Manager? Mediocre
Academy facilities? Poor
Annual budget? Declining
Stadium? Non-existent
Transparency? Poor
Why can’t we all respect what ATL has done and is doing and want our team to have the same asperations? We don’t want ATL to win it every year, we want NYC to win it every year. But if that’s going to happen, they are going to have to start acting a lot more like ATL.
dang it dude tag or quote me lol, missed this.
seems like all our player purchases have been considered "mediocre" by many in these boards until they show something, and yet we get top three in conference past three years.
staffing i dont know, i know the doctors suck but others not sure. Marketing team is amazing in their videos. i dont talk to my rep at all since i dont need much as im in bleachers.
manager? i have yet to find out what dome does in full year and preseason, im still pretty confident hes miles better than kreis. no matter who took the reigns of team halfway in season they were going to struggle. now you mean overall all our managers have been mediocre including PV ( who has his flaws of course some really bad ones too) then i dont know what to say since we were top part of league two years.
academy failities/ training facility- yes they are not fancy ass shit. its what you do with it that matters. Look at NJRB....pretty lackluster and look how consistent they are in top of league every year. now it took them few years to make that academy machine they have over there. i think it was like 2013 ish when they started consistently putting calling kids up.
on the flip side looks at teams like philly or colorado, who have better looking facilities who may have one year of playoffs but pretty bad year after year, or barely making a wildcard spot. does CFG put the best academy coaches ? i dont know, we have signed homegrowns but we do need a "2" team badly now since the oldest class is now getting to that age, that is on CFG not doing their work.
annual budget? i dont know if its declining more than CFG not wanting to use it. but you cant be surprised man city is the main team, we are all branding extensions. we should of all knows what we signed up for. however, i dont know yet if its declining since we dont know the third DP situation, but previous purchases dont give much hope.
transparency- teams will show what they want, especially with injuries it is frustrating. outside of injuries i dont what else you guys want. not every team details every detail of every purchase GAM/TAM detail or draft pic etc. but that is more of a league wide issue than just us. there were even cases where team X had an extra draft pic or extra international spot that was bought and no one knew about it until months later when a player was signed.
stadium- im still thinking CFG dont want to shell more cash as they want tax breaks etc. i said 10 years in YS and we enter year 5.
Staffing -
Lots of turnover in the back office staff. 3 Presidents in 5 years. None of them have accomplished their goal of acquiring land for a stadium. Poor medical/rehab staff.
Player purchases -
We are middle of the road in transfer fees paid. Below ATL, LAFC, TOR, NJRB, SEA
Manager -
3 managers in 4 seasons. Briefs showed ambition. Kreis showed a lack of curiosity. Dome shows we are lazy
Academy facilities -
There are none. We play at St John’s.
Annual Budget -
We spent less on players this season than last season. Likely we are going to spend less on players next season than this season. I am even including transfer fees here.
Transparency -
The league itself has become more transparent. SKC is the epitome of transparency. Merritt Paulson is a transparent owner. Our club hasn’t improved one bit since the Lampard Lies.
Stadium -
Pipe dream.
Every winter is the same around here.
“Team sucks, we haven’t made any signings, the sky is falling”
for presidents- fair, i also is in part of CFG's willingness and how far they want to put dollars. i think now they know that its gonna be expensive to do work here for land. i agree on medical from like year 2.
players- errrr a big transfer fee does automatically mean we are world beaters. i think RB just paid Kaku as a "big transfer" and that is the first one in a while for them. the rest i see it. we can still hang and have for past few years
manager- who is briefs? lol kreis sucked- fired. PV was supposed to be here 3 years and wanted to go to europe i cant fault him for ambition. dome does show what we knew even with PV.....its only gonna be people in the CFG system.
academy- yes they do and for big nor not big deal they got that USSDA title, alot of these kids have school so im sure some live in city its fine. no need to take them all the fuck way out upstate. I will say though they should provide some sort of travel service like vans to get kids to and from training in st johns.
budget- sure, im sure the DP we get will not be a 15 millions purchase. doesnt mean we title contenders based on that only. fuck even atlanta paid almiron 8 millon and barco like double that....yet it didnt happen for barco in year 1. if anything over paid. we scratched surface on being title contenders with a villa that we also didnt pay much for in terms of transfer fees.
transparency- sure, but like i said its more of league wide issue, that im sure most owners dont want to reveal every detail either.
stadium- yes
The thing is I don't think we can definitely say they aren't. Medina was an Almiron type signing. A young player we can develop and sell on to Europe for a profit in a few years. Just because Medina hasn't been as productive as Almiron (so far) doesn't make it any less ambitious. When Lampard left we replaced him with our own Valeri/Piatti type creative midfielder in Maxi. Again, just because he hasn't been as flashy as those two doesn't mean he's a bust. Atlanta hasn't done anything revolutionary, the thing that put them over the top was Josef Martinez who was languishing on the bench in serie A. He hasn't scored more than 10 goals for any other club he's been at. It wasn't great scouting by Atlanta, they got lucky and struck gold with him. Is it frustrating that Atlanta won a championship before us? Yes. Does it mean we're a failure that makes all the wrong moves? No.we can ...just that i feel as nycfc fans by now we should damn well know CFG is NOT going to act like ATL.
Presidents -
You said it better than I could. Team unable or unwilling to spend the money necessary to get the job done.
Players -
Yes. NJRB just kid their first major fee. So did we. They did better and spent more than we did.
Managers -
I say Dome is mediocre because we hired the best available guy from within a pool of about 5 other dudes. Mediocre.
Academy -
They’re terrific. But they don’t have any facilities. Check out what the Union has going on. Why don’t we have that?
Budget -
Keeps going down. It’s not just about transfer fees. That’s a part of it. It’s also about salary. We seem to be settling into an FC Dallas or Seattle type of wage range. Well take advantage of the tools available and maximize those? But we won’t take advantage of the uncapped opportunities like Toronto or Atlanta.
Transparency -
League is getting better. Teams are doing better. We’re still pretending we’re North Korea.
