We're selling Chanot?1) Ireland lost to Luxembourg? Jesus H Christ. Terrible
2) Maybe Max is leaving the. Very weird.
He should have played eSports.i was wondering why chanot wasn't in the team photo. didn't realize he had gone to play for the national squad. good for him. surprised the club didn't announce it on any of their media channels
Gio with a goal. Good thing we got some transfer money out of his Dortmund move.
Ultimately yea.Isn’t that the fault of MLS?
Luxembourg 1-0 up on Portugal. Chanot leading the backline, currently still shutting out Portugal.
... I told my friend, if Chanot/luxembourg shut out Portugal, I'm gonna get a Chanot jersey.
Not MLS' fault at all. There are laws in this country that prevent a child below a certain age from signing a professional sports contract. MLS/NYCFC never had a chance to sign him because Claudio believed that signing a contract with MLS would make Gio less attractive to an acquiring team and limit his choices. Without a signed pro contract, he was free to sign anywhere he wanted for, well, free.Ultimately yea.

Notice that Claudio left (December '19) almost immediately after Gio signed with Dortmund (July '19). It was obviously in the works before, but he had to wait until the season ended.
I can't blame Claudio for putting the needs of his son ahead of the needs of the club, but I certainly blame NYCFC for allowing him to do so.
I would have taken whatever money NYCFC was offering (probably $200k), put it in my pocket, and been off to Dortmund when they came calling. I would have ended up in the exact same place with a little extra money in my pocket. Given his talent, it's silly to think the market for his transfer would have been diminished at all by a transfer fee.if you were Gio, would you have signed with NYCFC or Dortmund?

Why is that? He would have been signed and sold over a few week period. That would have been poor business under the current CBA rules for homegrown talent. That would have meant no Sands Haak Gray Scally.

Why did Scally sign his homegrown? I get that we won't see eye to eye on this -- but either way it seems very unlikely that Claudio acted in the best interest of his employer, which gets us back to our original disagreement on the term "conflict of interest".Why would he do that to his new team?
