my fear is garber uses his "commissioner picks" and picks someone from nycfc.
I predict that whichever of our attacking players scores the most between now and the roster deadline will be on the team, plus Tinnerholm. But if you really want minimal or no NYC presence then hope that Taty, Medina, Magno, Andrade, Heber and Santi all score roughly the same number of goals, and exactly enough to let us win most of the games but none of them enough to stand out. I'd rather just root for them all to score an obscene number of goals and make the entire league wonder how they hell anyone can ever beat us and take the chance one of them can run in a friendly for 45 minutes without hurting himself. At least 20 or so players participate every year and there's maybe 1 serious injury every few years.
MLS marketing would love to highlight a recently acquired Brazilian who is scoring at will, or a comeback POTY candidate, or a star who comes back from a knee injury and then tears up the league, etc. And I don't know how you keep Tinny off the team unless he's already hurt, which voids the point of keeping him off the team.

The all-star voting has just started and at this point in the season, I have confidence in saying that I really doubt anybody from our squad will be voted in as an all-star and that makes me happy. lol.
I want our players to get recognition for sure, but one less meaningless game to play and risk injury is fine by me!

im of the mindset of lets win the cup give me the cup i dont care if not a peep was spoken about us all year by MLS digital.
Totally fair. I'd also rather win. Not sure how much All Star game participation correlates (reverse or otherwise) with winning MLS playoffs, but that's another issue.
Also, team selection is based on "a combination of fans, media and players," which I'm pretty sure means the league office will do what it wants and there's likely de minimis correlation between anyone's vote and who is on the roster.
i just do the voting to mess with it and have fun. i really dont think any of this voting really matters, as you mentioned MLS will find ways to pick who they want.

I think he's been very deserving of making the All-Star roster this year, but he likely never would have made it, except for these Gold Cup games. Which really shouldn't have any bearing on this, but it understandably will.
Yes. I still think there's a good chance he won't qualify under the opaque tripartite vote (though he might get decent support among players and media), but I expect the league will just insert him because they want to get as much archival footage of him as possible so they can use it when he is in UEFA CL.
The rest of the league's fans has a bias against our players. They see us, understandably, as that sheikh owned team playing in a baseball stadium and generally don't watch our games against neutral opponents. I was shocked by the number of fans on Bigsoccer and Twitter who had very little to no idea who James Sands was until now.
