2026 Roster and Transfer Discussion Thread

A fun team to watch is honestly a higher priority than a winning team. Yes, that will break down if they go 0-34 losing every game 4-5, but in the real world I'll take entertaining over good.
I'm think I'm in the all-things-equal camp but here's a thought experiment I can't be sure of:

Chicago just scored more goals than any team in the league except Miami and finished 8th in the East. NYCFC scored 18 fewer goals and conceded 16 fewer, good for 3 more points and fifth in the table. NYCFC was held scoreless 10 times; the Fire just 5 times. NYC went two further rounds in the playoffs.

Fire fans probably had more fun.

The transfer windows and off-seasons are traditionally so much fun in the futbol/soccer world, with the rumors, mock transactions, here-we-gos, projected formation speculation, highlight videos due diligence, excitement to watch the new additions, hope for improved results etc. All we get are crickets, inactivity, boredom, frustration, and excuses. We are missing a chunk of the fun.

2026 Transfer window dates announced yesterday.
Winter/Primary January 26 to March 26
Summer/Secondary July 13 to September 2
FIFA approved a request for Canadian MLS Clubs to use United States window dates instead of Canadian

Bogert analysis:
MLS has been pushing the close of the summer window back for a few years bit by bit. It now closes the same as most major European leagues.
Though transfers only need to be within the acquiring club's window, things are smoother if both windows are open.
The winter window is shorter than usual. They had to do this to extend the summer window.
