Huh. You really think Magno would be a better central player than Nico?A but Wolf-Magno-Nico.

Agreed. It's not enough to just get into a threatening position, even consistently. We need shots on target to create actual fear.
Pascal definitely isn't afraid to play the young guys, so you very well may get your wish. Seymour just needs to show out in preseason.Last season, Pascal seemed to give Shore a solid amount of starts to show what he could do early in the season. I'm hoping he does the same with Reid this year.
No. I just think it’s more important to keep Wolf productive and he’s far better on the left. Magno and Nico could figure out the other side. Need to get Magno into the box either wayHuh. You really think Magno would be a better central player than Nico?
Exactly. Without adding at least 2 reliable goal scorers we will be back to fighting for a middling playoff seed. It’s so obvious what we are missing. We still desperately need more guys in the attack who score more than a maximum of 3 goals a season.

Do we have a consensus ETA for Alonso’s availability?
I remember seeing eight to nine months as the full course of rehab and he had his surgery in December. Then there's training up to match fitness after that. So that math checks out.Nothing from the team, but judging by previous ACL injuries I think we're looking at probably absolutely no earlier than August, and probably closer to September or October. I think anything we get out of him this season is gravy.
Jerry Rice optimism? Anyone?Nothing from the team, but judging by previous ACL injuries I think we're looking at probably absolutely no earlier than August, and probably closer to September or October. I think anything we get out of him this season is gravy.
That would be great, but if he's back after the World Cup, that would be amazing enough.Jerry Rice optimism? Anyone?
That would have him back for our home opener.
My optimistic view:
Reid / Alonso can combine for 15 goals over the year.
There's optimism, and hopetimism. I fear fifteen combined goals from Reid and Alonso is the latter. That's why I asked about his expected return. My expectations are in line with the answer I got from ZYanksRule: very late in the season is a reasonably optimistic expectation. Mid to late summer is probably the earliest and nothing until 2027 is a possibility.Jerry Rice optimism? Anyone?
May the odds be ever in your favor <sad Maxi hologram appears in the sky above the stadium>At some point, the expiration date is just going to start flashing during a match.

Then there's the whole issue of how well does he return.
Yup same for an NFL running back with torn ACL. 12 months would be the minimum and another 6 to 12 before they are really back to 100% (if they ever fully get back to what they were)When a baseball pitcher gets Tommy John surgery, they usually miss 12-18 months and their first season back isn't as good. It is usually two years before they are back at full-tilt. That's kind of what I think for Alonso. We may see him very late in the season, but even if we do he's not going to be at full effectiveness until 2027. And as we saw with Heber, there's a chance he's never the same player. Alonso is younger so the odds are in his favor, but we really do have to prepare to not see him the entire season.

For this reason, I'd really like to see them find some high-quality creative striker solution to cover the gap. Find a loan, grab someone on a one-year deal. Don't limp along depending on an 18-year-old Reid to break out or Nico to play out of position all year, waiting around for Alonso to come back.
Told the club day of the draft that he's going back to school but we retain his MLS rights for two seasons.Where’s Gyan?
