Eh. Doesn’t seem that great anyway. Wasn’t moved by this.Yeah this really seems to be for the Red Bulls. First of all I'm seeing a fee over $6 million and we don't have any DP spots left. Second of all, American-based reporters are saying Red Bulls.
thanks for the information!

Interestingly the German team has already announced the Jovan loan, but NYCFC hasn't said anything yet.
I don't know why I find that interesting, but it seems strange not to get an announcement from NYCFC about this. They barely consider Jovan their player at this point lol.
Actually in a way, I do. If they were more ambitious we might feel more compelled to be as well. You hate to see it.

Friday afternoon news dump territoryIt's not positive news, I could see them not announcing anything. Why remind more causal fans that they paid $8.5M for a guy that did nothing for NYCFC for a year, went to Belgium and failed there for two seasons. Now he's taking another step down to a low table Bundesliga 2 team, on what is reported as a "no-fee" loan.
They'd likely rather we just forget about him as opposed to realizing we are still burning an U21 slot on a guy that's so bad we have to loan him to a team for free just to try to get him enough playing time to jump start his development.
I honestly think when our stadium opens the Red Bulls are going to be completely irrelevant in this market. They'll be the FC Dallas. No one even knows they play games in Dallas.
Totally agree, for a while I thought we had surpassed the wnba in popularity but I think they dunked on us recently. (Pun intended) You can look in our new swag thread at the A24 tweet that lion posted and there is even a Marty supreme liberty hat but not an NYCFC/RedBull/Gotham hat. As a sport we aren’t making the necessary waves yet in this market and it’s just disappointing.i'm unsure having a stadium is going to suddenly raise the profile of NYCFC to a level where you can ask anybody in the city who we are and where we play and they'll know. It might improve things a bit. Especially for mets fans who are just wondering why there's a new stadium across the street. But for those who don't venture to queens or have no interest in other sports other than NFL or baseball, I honestly don't believe it will move the needle.
We haven't existed long enough and we definitely have not been engrained into the culture of new york enough. It will take more time and probably a generational change as soccer becomes more popular in the country overall.

I think it will raise our profile, not a massive extent but I think it will raise our profile. I think a majority of sports fans know we exist at this point, I just don't think they care. Maybe there will be a few curious folks who want to check out the stadium, and maybe some of those fans stick around.
I do think it will lower the Red Bulls' profile because once there's a soccer stadium in Queens, why is anyone east of the Lincoln Tunnel going to Harrison? Especially if we start our tenure there with success while the Red Bulls languish near the bottom of the playoff pocture.
I think the stadium will help NYCFC but only a little.i mean, if you live right by the path station downtown, it's probably easier to go to harrison than make the transfers and sit on the train to get to flushing.
i know what you're trying to say, but it's also not that simple. red bulls have existed in some form since the beginning and they have not penetrated the market in any way. a stadium, even in the boroughs, isn't instantly going to change that.
I think the stadium will help NYCFC but only a little.
I also think that if it does raise NYCFC's profile in any substantial way that will help the Red Bulls.
