2026 Roster and Transfer Discussion Thread

Can we get a 1 year Darwin Nunez loan? His Saudi team just effectively benched him for the remainder of the season.

9 goals! We were about to pay millions for a guy with 6 goals in the 2.Bundesliga.

I'd take him on loan. Wouldn't hate it one bit.

I was thinking the same thing when I read about that. Those are the kind of fun transactions I wish we went in for. Something like that wouldn’t fill the stadium, but it would get some more in the seats, excite the fan base and actually help us win games.

I doubt they would do it but it is tempting to think we could instantly have a ST allowing Nico to play CAM, Maxi to be a sub and saving us all from having to suffer through another round of ST Magno. Assuming we still sign a DP ST, Ramirez would also be decent depth with playoff experience.

Do we even know that Nico will play a CAM even if we have a striker? I think, even if we signed a DP #9, maxi would still start at the #10, nico would play one wing, and wolf, ojeda, magno would fight over the 2nd winger spot. I think if jansen really wanted to play nico at the #10, he would have already when martinez was healthy. It's not like we suddenly got better wingers this season. We got magno, which is an unknown quantity at the moment since we simply don't know what we're gonna get from him.

I don’t know how waiving works but I can’t imagine the team having to pay Ramirez too much, in terms of cap space. I think they should sign him and throw him up top until we can get someone in. At the very least he is a human body who knows where the 9 should be on the field and can probably teach Reid.

Well, I’d like it if Maxi played about 30% fewer minutes.

as would i. but based on last season, it doesn't seem likely considering the current roster. maybe if we had a DP striker and one of our wingers is having an explosive, career defining year that forces jansen to play them instead of nico.

we definitely should not be relying on maxi so much. if it were up to me, i would reduce his minutes by half and get that transition going. he's not gonna be here next year. there's no reason he should be starting every game and playing almost every minute.

I would take Ramirez, he has done a job for a number of teams, and with the GAM we have I think it's worth a flyer. I believe he also plays similar to Alonso so we could still keep a similar style and have good quality depth when he is back

I would totally take him. He is obviously not in his prime anymore, but he was pretty good until a few years ago. He is not fodder. He is a proven commodity that raises our floor, provided he can stay fit.

He was good as recently as 2024 for Columbus. Not peak but 0.50 G/90 in 1400 minutes. I don't know what happened with the Galaxy last year when he played just 900 minutes. Best I can tell he, like most of the Galaxy, suffered production without Puig there to push things. It's also possible he's just slowed down. He turns 35 in early April. Some players produce longer but that's in range when it could happen.

Besides his age/fitness, the main known unknown is what options and plans the club has for that roster need. We don't know if they plan to get someone this window, wait until summer, will they move Talles and open a DP spot? But if we're in the market for a placeholder I think he's worth a meeting today while we're in LA already. His guaranteed comp in 2025 was $571k so I think we could work a deal.
