Bad news, but useful. Thanks. Do you think it might be faster to park further away (since you'd be further along the "one road")?

It's not really about parking further away. It's parking close to the exit or on the lanes leading to the exit. The gravel lots have one way out. There are paved lots near the warehouse to the left of the stadium. That's probably better. But still one road out.

And one last thing that's important to note. You want to go back the same way you came. So when you leave, you want to make a right. I believe they closed this when people started to come out. When I left at halftime for the US Open Cup it was open. Make a left and you're in Newark and it's going to take longer to get back home. It's daylight but still, Newark.

And most importantly. No NYCFC anything on or inside your car that is visible. You will be keyed or other have a Red Bull sticker slapped on it.

That's a bit presumptuous. The first part. not the second. Definitely hazing. Undetermined on the first. I think if we can harness him a bit, he has potential.

Someone asked the same earlier today and the consensus was to park in lower Manhattan and take the PATH. Which is what I'm going to do. But I don't have independent knowledge.

There's no free parking in lower manhattan, only metered or parking lot. The former you're definitely getting a ticket, the latter one is rather expensive (but cheaper than a ticket)

Understood. I dont think anyone expects parking in lower Manhattan is a cost saver, but not parking at RBA can be an aggro saver.
Kind of amazing that parking in Manhattan can be less agro than in Harrison, but so it goes sometimes.

Thanks. Any particular reason for recommending that one? Lion's advice had me thinking one of the lots closer to the highway. might be a better bet.

I'm coming from Jersey today anyway so definitely not parking in Lower Manhattan.

Don't park on the gravel lots. They will kill your tires if you're not careful. Additional travel time is probably 30-45 minutes. Not joking. When I left after the game ended one time, it took that long. It's one road out. ONE ROAD. Leave your seat 15' minimum before the 90' if you want to get out in time.

Except it will be the Red Bulls fans leaving 15 minutes early this time.

A worthwhile idea, but with the help of https://spothero.com/nyc-parking and http://nyc.bestparking.com/neighborhoods/financial-district-parking I found a couple of sub $20 garages downtown, and I save tunnel toll and tunnel traffic.

There is a covered garage at the journal square path station. Costs less than $20 for the day if I remember correctly and it's just a few stops away. This is a good option.

There's also the toll saved by not going to NJ. Probably not a wash, but makes it closer.
