Anyone else get told that we are going to sacrifice the USOC (if it's held) in order to make up MLS games?
It’s been widespread for a while but a lack of testing has skewed numbers. So the reporting has been based on what’s known, and without testing, not much has been “known.” Blame the federal government for not accepting the WHO test kits when initially offered.Judging from all the news about people in NYC getting sick, this disease seems to be much more widespread in the city than is being reported.
Would be interesting to know how many attendees of that match (combined supporters) are showing symptoms...... one of the last big events in the area before shutdown....
Well I’m hoping that I’m wrong but I’ve been a little under the weather, no fever, but stuffiness and headaches have been what’s bothering me. Been keeping to myself and not going out.Would be interesting to know how many attendees of that match (combined supporters) are showing symptoms...... one of the last big events in the area before shutdown....

Agreed. I really didn’t think anything of it and like you said far too late to realize how serious and real this is. Again hoping for the best, I’m taking precautions just in case, if it goes beyond stuffiness and headache I’ll be going to the ER.Going to go out on a limb and say holding that game was a very, very bad idea. It should never have happened. We were far too late to realize the seriousness of this problem.
Good luck. I hope it isn't the virus, and if it is, it remains mild. If you can, call the ER before heading out. Tell them you have possible Covid-19 symptoms and ask if there are special procedures you should follow when you arrive.Agreed. Really hope its not virus-related and its mostly your body having to adjust to new normals. I know for me personally, I'm doing a lot less walking, eating differently than I usually do, etc. so I wouldn't be surprised if my body reacted in some way to that.Well I’m hoping that I’m wrong but I’ve been a little under the weather, no fever, but stuffiness and headaches have been what’s bothering me. I’ve been worried about this. If we successfully contain this thing (to the extent that’s even possible at this point) it’s almost guaranteed to feel like an insane overreaction. It’s a good bet we all relax too soon. I saw reports yesterday that the situation in New York is estimated to peak in 45 days, given current conditions and trends. But what do we do then? This thread from this morning, summarizing a study out of the U.K., is sobering:Counterfactuals are always hard.
Yeah. I saw that. Both depressing and realistic. Though I remain hopeful, I am leaning to think normal does not return in 2020.I’ve been worried about this. ETA: I think if the current shutdowns work and we limit this thing to numbers lower than we currently fear, then people will react positively and credit the measures taken and the people who ordered them.
But, if as that thread suggests, we cannot return to normal until a working vaccine and/or antiviral is developed, then I also worry that people might not be able to handle the possibly necessary long term suppression efforts over several months and even a year+.
