I'm surprised this hasn't been brought up yet, but it's pretty shitty to say publicly about how Heber was the 9th option and all the context around that. I'm sure Heber understands that the club was likely to also pursue other strikers before him, and I'm sure he feels validated with the production he brought here, but it still sounds like Dome didn't want him all that much and is still pretty salty about it. Can't be great for relations between Dome and Heber I would imagine.

Brian Schmetzer just made it to MLS cup 3 years out of 4 years and his highest paid player is Lodeiro at $2.5 million. NYCFC had Villa at $6M for 4 years and 3 coaches couldn't get past the conference semi-finals. Drop the damn excuses Dome.

who did he snap at this time? all the stuff that came in the spanish interview was more venting but was not snapping or being angry at anyone. the travel and schedule are valid points but to his credit he has said many times this year "it is what it is and you have to adjust". i think he has done best hes can in regular season, even if we took some bad losses.

throwing claudio/cfg under the bus is something that is true but not something that needs to be said publicly- i think this is why he may be let go. but its still valid, watch next season we wont be complete till like early april again because cfg took forever finding a player.

Brian Schmetzer was in the sounders system as assistant since its inception its much easier to transition and be ready to be the manager when you know the system and good chunk of the players. something that wont ever happen with us as CFG likes to flip managers after a year and a half or two. you can make it up with spending but thats not CFG's style with transfers.

It’s really bad optics and does not respect Heber’s HR element & privacy. Corporations fire employees for divulging operations & HR/privacy issues.

That said, while he doesn’t want it put into the interweb, Heber may not take offense at being #9 because wasn’t he supposed to go to the Far East, or some other league, and the opportunity fell through? If he had been available all along, perhaps he would have been higher on the pecking order, but per the circumstances of a pending move that NYCFC couldn’t compete with, the club ignored him until he was open. If I have that all straight, then Heber seems like a self-aware person and that his selection was about timing.

Yeah, and to be honest, out of all the people to handle comments like Dome made, Heber is probably one most able to brush it off with just how damn happy the guy is all the time. But even still, just a shitty thing to say so publicly with complete disregard for how it may affect Heber's feelings.

I interpreted it not as 9th-best option, but 9th-attempted option, which are subtly different. Each time they lost out on their initial top 2-3 options, they may have cast a wider and wider net, eventually hitting on Heber. It's possible there were cheaper and inferior players in the first group of 8.

It's also possible his top 5-6 were insanely optimistic, like:

1. Mertens
2. Girourd
3. Suarez
4. etc.

where would he go though in MLS? he doesnt like that we didnt spend and teams that have opening arent really big spenders ( of the top of my head) and the likes of lAFC and ATL, TFC are not letting go of their managers

I can't imagine he is leaving NYCFC to go to another MLS club or to the middle east. He doesn't like MLS - and if he can't at least live in NYC and go to jazz clubs and do other things he loves, then there isn't another city that will cut it for him. And the middle east??? forget it.
