Reminder:

To be fair, in a later tweet that same day he hedged a bit on the Wednesday timing. It could still happen, or he could have been wrong about that but right about the coaching changes. But it's the same guy, and from his feed he seems like a dedicated fan and not a troll.
Yep, that last one didn't turn out true, but I definitely feel like that guy has good info.

According to Crooks - Dome said in his Spanish interview that he thought he was gonna be replaced by GvB as far back as the 3-3 draw in Minnesota.

Really hope Dome returns. I like his tactics and most of all, I like his personality. He's fiery and personable. But I guess we'll find out sooner rather than later, especially with CCL preparation needing to be done a lot sooner than normal MLS pre-season.

I expect that if he leaves he will stay until a replacement is lined up. That's what they did with Vieira. They maintained the public lie that he was not leaving way, way beyond the point of believability and into the area of insult. That won't necessarily happen here if they are better prepared and can line up someone new more quickly, but I am confident that Dome will be pressured to delay his official departure until that is done, and he is likely to comply within broad limits.

Yes.

What industry are you in?
Per your scenario, a multi-year guaranteed contract trumps asking for a raise. That’s the point of the contract.

I’m in an industry of licensed professionals. We don’t have guaranteed multi-year contracts.

I think he'd stick around if there wasn't a replacement lined up already. Simply because he cares.. at least i think he cares. but Dome isn't trying to hide anything like Viera was. He's being pretty candid about it. The way it looks, it will probably be GvB if Dome does leave. I just hope the adjustment period if we get a new coach isn't too rough

Claudio and Dome get along great. Much closer than Claudio was to Patrick. Their philosophies match up.

CFG did not recruit Gio.

Domes issues have everything to do with the constraints put on him financially. If you think that’s Claudio’s doing, then you are misinformed.

The budget has significantly changed since year one.

I don't really understand this conversation. We aren't playing another game for 4 months.

As am I. And I still ask for raises when I deserve one.

Or you know, you can just leave.

a game - yes. 4 months.

but preparations for that game need to probably begin 3 months away. getting a new manager in and getting things situated is probably 2 months away. roster decisions are due by nov. 21st (i think). who's making those decisions? just claudio?

there really isn't a whole lot of time to find a new manager and get it all working. so unless it's all been worked out behind the scenes already, we're just saying Dome will likely be asked to stick around.

If you don’t have a contract, you’re justified to ask for a raise at any time. If you do have a contract, you’re justified to ask for a raise when it expires; doing so beforehand is not in the spirit of, ya know, a contract that has set terms over a set length of time.

If you have a contract and just leave in the middle of it, you’re departure is governed by the terms of separation in the contract. If you have no contract, you can walk at any time with zero penalty.

What about this is difficult for you to understand?

I don't think the timing of the Vieira and Torrent announcements (1 day apart) was solely driven by it being in-season. I think CFG likes things neat and tidy. They cannot always have it that way, but I think here it is possible because the vague indications are that Torrent is either going somewhere within CFG or at least with CFG's support. I agree it is not nearly as urgent as the mid-season Vieira departure but that's my reading of CFG's methods FWIW. They are pretty much obsessed with message control.

This is not how things work in the sports world.
Sure, somewhere in the past, the sports world seemed to lose sight of what a contract means.

How two parties approach a contract is up to them, so in sports they can mutually agree to renegotiate, but a contract is a contract and unless there’s a clause written into it for renegotiating, then one party can hold the other hostage to it.

Mikel Arteta will not be on the City bench come August. Why would t Dome just head back?

Hell, Arteta may not even be on the City Bench come November the way Everton are playing.
