I heard the same thing too, but it was just MLS offering the contract and not LA. Basically once he signed with MLS, whichever team with an available DP spot (and would pickup the contract) would get him. If no team would sign him, then Garber draws up a new rule so he can sign with a team that wants him (LA, LA, or LA).

I find it hard to believe that the Galaxy would offer that kind of money to Chicharito. Not only is it unheard of by league standards, but it would also require LA to get a 4th DP spot which isn't allowed by league rules. Not that those rules have stopped anyone before. They are very flexible rules.
